    It is an AB10.
It is a piece of crap. I only bought it because I knew they were going to ban it. I did a lot of that kind of buying in 1999, but this is the only one I regret buying.

I hear you about buying stuff before the ban. I bought a carp load of mags but no guns. I wish I knew about stripped lowers back then!

If you live locally, PM me and I will let you try it. I think it will lose most of its "mystique" after you pull the trigger.

          AB10's can take Tec9 uppers..

You can make them reliable, it just takes alot of work.

Actually, I did buy a few stripped lowers as backups at the deadline. They were named on the list, and I wound up having to sell them out of state due to the timing of when I bought them vs. when I took possession. Looking back, I think I got some bad advise also from my FFL at the time, but I still have some fun registered toys that always seem to get attention at the range (and very large capacity magazines to feed them with).

I should clarify what I had previously stated. I owned a number of things that needed to be registered for the ban including two ARs. One of them, an Eagle Arms EA-15 carbine, had never cycled properly. I didn't know how to fix it and not wanting to get stuck with the damn thing, I sold it along the lame-o TEC-DC9 and a beat to hell P7M8.

Just before the ban, I went to every gun show I could to collect mags but failed to buy anymore guns.

Knowing what I know now, I would have kept the EA-15 and made it work. I didn't hear about stripped lowers until I joined this forum. Had I known about them, I would have picked up a few. These are mistakes I won't make again(and my credit cards hate me already!)

I probably should have kept the P7 as well, but the funds from those three sales bought a lot of mags

              back on topic:

To the OP, yeah, I recommend trying one out before you spend any money on one. They have to be one of the crudest firearms around and just aren't much fun in semi-auto. A full-auto one would go a long way towards making it worthwhile, however...

Ok I think I got the laws

Of I find an AB-10 in NorCal I can not have it shipped. It must be a PPT/FTF Right?

On the AB-10 I am planning on cutting the mag release lever short. That way you will have to use a tool/scewdriver to release the 10 round mag I bought for it. Does that sound ok? Can I take the mag out without making an Assault Weapon?

If I have to travel 500 miles twice to get it I am really wondering if its worth it now.

If you're wondering if its worth it from any practical standpoint... well its not, glocks are cheaper, more reliable and not quite as uggly.

                      I know

I know its bascially a paperweight. Now if I knew someone up North who bought it PTP, then brought it down here the PTP'ed it to me I wouldnt have to go up there twice.

you can do some neat things with them... they WILL take standard Tec9 parts, and there's all sorts of custom applications you can do... (would be a great AOW build if you did it as a KG99 clone with the forward handgrip and the appropriate tax stamp)

Road trips are fun.... its just an excuse to do some travelin.... I say go for it and hit up a norcal calguns BBQ or shootnQ or something to make it all perfect.

The Tec-9 is A reliable gun. The people that think otherwise are the ones that are using hollow point Ammo. If you read the owners manual it states that the gun is intended to use FMJ the one that are pointy like S&B 115 FMJ with these, the gun will function reliably and be pretty accurate.

So use FMJ not hollow points, if you use hollow points don't blame the gun read the manual....

Are you sure? I assume you mean with a pinned mag or such also, in unaltered state, is illegal I believe. These guns were sucky as well.

I'm kind of bummed I didn't pick up a couple of Tec 9's of some sort for fun. Keeping it clean and with quality fmj ammo I'm thinking it may have been ok.
