Beretta 92

I have one. As others have said, it is a FULL SIZE handgun. But I absolutely love it. It goes with me to the range every time. Very accurate and easy to shoot, once you get used to the DA/SA trigger.

Thanks Guys I have already looked felt it the grip is large but I found it a good fit for my hands.

Some people replace the grips with thinner slim line or aluminum grips, helps if the standard grips feel too big.
Reliability is excellent. Accuracy from the factory is ok but not on par with a typical modern 1911. Many Beretta owners change the hammer spring to a lighter "D" spring. This is a inexpensive and simple upgrade that will lighten trigger pull somewhat, about 1.5Lbs if I recall.

If you want to spend the time and money, there are also more advanced modifications that will increase accuracy.
Overall a great pistol.

Clearing a stoppage in a Beretta 92 series is the same as in any other double action, slide mounted safety pistol.

Love my 92FS.

Hated the M9 when I carried it in the Navy, but bought a 92FS in a fit of nostalgia in 2010/2011 or so. I was completely amazed to find out that I actually loved it.

I can't think of another pistol I'd trade it for until you get up into the EXTREMELY expensive stuff. Nighthawk, that sort of price range.

I prefer Sigs and CZ's because they fit me better, but the 92FS is a fine service pistol.

I have the FC and a LE turn in FS, gotten for $329 from J&G Sales. Excellent mechanically, a little worn around the edges, can't beat the price. Great shooters.

I purchased my used 92G in 1993 and never had a problem with it. Since its a G model it has no safety so that's not an issue. I have run thousands of rounds without any jamming but I keep my gun well oiled.

I shot 124 gr +p ammo through it as well as 115 gr target ammo. I love shooting my Beretta 92G. Look for one.

It's a great pistol. Nothing functionally wrong about it. If you can first try shooting it as a rental at firing ranges, you can decide if it's best for you.

I think that the problem here is the safety/decocker being mounted on the slide. When clearing a malfunction and working the slide, you may inadvertantly engage the safety. The key here is that when you pick up the gun, draw the gun, or finish a malfunction clearing you must automatically disengage the safety even it it hasn't been engaged.

Great guns. I prefer a G model if they still make them (decocker only, no safety). You really should also check out a Sig P226 if you're looking at Berettas. You'll probably want both of them though ;-)

have had the INOX version since late 1990's. Intuitively accurate for me. My favorite for the range but too big to CCW.

I bought my 92fs with my boot camp back pay money. I will never sell it, to me its priceless. That being said it is big and the DA trigger pull is long but you can train enough to overcome. I've shot well over 2000 rds thru mine and only fte was when my wife accidentally loaded .380 in it at the range one day. It did shoot it but didn't extract. Great pistol but the trigger could use some work.

Yup for "Slide mounted safeties/decockers" yes but IIRC only CZ and Beretta are the only current manufactures that mount it there. For most others
It depends on how it's done. If you come over the top to release the slide or to rack the slide to clear a malfunction "the way most instructors teach" you will activate the decocker and drop the hammer. Trying to hold the decocker up is rough on the fingers and generally can lead to unsuccessful clearing of the malfunction. I find it easier to come under the front of the slide and rack from there. Racking the front of the slide is difficult on non serrated slides. Also when doing a mag change on a slide lock if you slam in the mag with your palm near the back of the mag you can send the slide home without manually releasing it. That's why the Beretta differs from most other SA pistols.
