I owned several Beretta 92 series pistols. Carried one on duty for a while . Carried ( and still carry ) one off duty sometimes.

    Currently I own a 92G and 92FS models.

It is one of the very best full size service pistols in world today.

It's a great gun. Just mindful it is a "full-size" in every aspect. Hold one, because your hands may be too small. I'm a 5'9", 170 lbs, and my hands are too small to comfortably grip the Beretta. I can shoot, but not as well as medium sized gun.

If you have big hands, by all means, no questions asked get one.

The other thing to keep in mind, is the first DA pull is heavy and feels heavy. That's not a bad thing, just something to be mindful of.

The grip is HUGE. In my hands not too bad, but in smaller ones you will have trouble. Also like other say DA is pretty heavy, but the SA is heavy as well. I guess something like 6lb on my buddies 92FS.

Double actions used to bother me before so I found striker fire pistols better for trigger pull consistency. If you practice pre loading your trigger right at the point where it will break and reset and pre load the same way your shots will group much better.

Behind my S&W 1911 and Wilson Combat 1911, my 92fs is the most accurate handgun I own, more so than my HK, Glock, S&W M&P, etc. But that's just me.

From day one shot like a laser for me. Not that 9mm has any kick really anyway, but given steel frame the recoil is basically nonexistent especially compared to couple of my polymer framed 9mm's. Yes grip bit fat but I have big hands.

Like it so much I just bought the Inox version last week for my second Beretta 92.

I had one and it is a great pistol. The only thing I didn't like was the long trigger reach so I didn't practice with it much.

If you get one and the trigger reach is a problem for you, Wilson Combat has a very nice looking shorter reach trigger for about $25.

I love mine(INOX model), my favorite 9mm pistol that I currently own.

Only one I would say is better that I have owned is the CZ-SP01(I really wish I hadn't sold that gun)

the Beretta is a fine combat handgun. for my liking, i've found it to be too heavy for the round that it delivers; personal preference.

I got one while they were still made in Italy and before the military adopted them.
It eats everything I feed it without complaint and hits what I aim at.

The only time I had a problem was when a reload blew out where the ramp is cut into the barrel.
It knocked a spring loose and I had to disassemble it to get the action to function again.
                      Never a problem since.

                          Have about a CZ-75

I've been trying to choose among the Beretta 92fs, the CZ 75BD and the Browing Hi Power (all in 9mm). Although I liked the Beretta, as others have said, the grip is very big and since I have relatively small hands, it just wasn't comfortable enough. The Browning was more comfortable, but considerably more expensive. The CZ 75 not only fit really well, it was the least expensive of the three. It also has great reviews, is full size and you might want to take a look at it. I can pick mine up in 5 days. Really looking forward to taking to the range.

Great pistol. I've put thousands of rounds through mine without ever a jam or failure of any kind. Check out the Beretta forum for great info about the pistol and variants.

If you look up "full size 9mm" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of a 92FS.

I have an M9A1. Love it! The DA pull takes forever and the slide mounted safety takes some getting used to. It is a sexy beast!

                              I have a SP2022 and a GP100 so DA/SA is no problem for me.
