I know its not going to make ANY difference with the function of the firearm, but would you take this from a higher end semi-custom 1911 which you paid a high dollar amount for? (not everyone will see what is "wrong" or "off". So if you see it, would you buy it?)

So I just got off the phone with NightHawk and DAMN they are awesome at customer service. They will fix it and their Master Smith will be handling it upon them receiving it. I will "update again" when the work is complete.

Does it affect POI? Looks like the rear sight cut may be slightly off. Depending on the dollar amount, I'd say have them fix it. Mis-aligned sights are a no-go from any reputable manufacturer. It's also in the area of the gun that is literally staring you in the eye every time you shoot it...

I'm usually focused on the front sight, not the back of the slide.

My Les Baer has a crooked line on the front strap checkering. Since the checkering was cut by hand, I actually think it adds character to the gun.

I say this as I look thru the sights on my 1911:
A misaligned rear sight would be obvious no matter where your focus is. If the rear sight is not directly in your line of sight, regardless of focusing on the front sight, you are clearly doing something wrong.

The rear sight does not look misaligned at all, it appears they goofed a tad when doing the rear slide serration. The OP even says it will not make any difference in the operation of the pistol.

Not a troll response at all, even looking through your rear sight you are not focused on the lower half just above the slide.

OP, post complete view of your 1911. Which model it is ?

I would buy it anyway. It'll help identify it as mine if it was stolen and the s/n got removed. I don't buy safe queens so I'll end up messing it up worse than that within a few months/years anyway by carrying it. Some people are just too damn picky. As long as it shoots straight and functions reliably I could care less what it looks like.

I wouldn't buy it nor would I pay for sub-standard work. Every time you look at the rear of that slide you're gonna be pi$$ed. Suspect one of the apprentices in the shop did the job but, a journeyman or master pistolsmith wouldn't be very proud to have his name associated with a screw-up like that.

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, its a little bit different when your'e spending $4000 on a pistol. Expecting it to be cosmetically perfect when delivered to you is certainly not out of line.

OP: I'd take, it as it sits. There is nothing wrong with being upset about it not being perfect......$4000 should get you some perfect serrations on the rear of the slide, but depending on where the gun is coming from.......it probably isn't worth waiting a year or two for a new one.

If you could get whoever made it to knock a bit off the price (to buy some ammo) I'd say you did good. IF you are the sort to agonize over it forever, you might be better off passing.
