HST is famous for expansion reliability out of short barrels.

                GLOCK G36.

The price is right, and slimmer and lighter than a fat-bottomed G30s. They are outstanding CCW/SD pistols.

6+1, plus a extra mag or Two that are also small and light, .45ACP 230gr. +P HST gives you standard pressure/ barrel length performance out of the 3.8"/low bore axis barrel.

Comfortable and controllable to shoot, easy to carry, accurate, 100% reliable, .45ACP Glock.

Five Rounds / Five Seconds / Ten Yards / One Handed
                .45 ACP Ball / GLOCK G36

                I also added a Rhinoplasty.

Kahr P45 is a great size!
Slim single stack, but full enough grip...longer than a CW9.
It's on the roster. Too bad the CW45 budget version isn't.

Best part is that it can take flush fitting 1911 mags...

I also went with the Kahr P45, a minty used all-black pistol, after good experience with two Kahr CW9s (wife and I)---it's been reliable, shoots to point of aim, slim and lightweight. I do admit to carrying the CW9 more often---smaller, slimmer, one more round on board, etc...

+1 on the XDs. A friend and I bought each a 9mm and .45. They are the exact same size, and both handle and feel great. Plus, free SSE, awesome deal!
