Glock reliable?

99% of all gun failures, including 1911's, are shooter and ammo induced. I have been shooting Glocks in training for more than 12 years, and started shooting competition last year. In over 25,000 rounds I have not had one single failure, not one. And this is using reloads, not premium ammo. To all those who say it's a gun problem, learn how to shoot first.Comment

While Glocks can run dry, it's still advisable to lube them up before shooting hundreds of rounds through them (like before a pistol course).
It's easier to clean the dirt & debris that has built up from the oil on the gun during your break or lunch, rather than to run it dry and deal with FTF's or other issues throughout the day.
I've learned this the hard way by having this happen to me on 2 different occasions, and I was using "clean" factory new brass FMJ ammo too.Comment

New guns!
Were they stripped down, cleaned and lubed before firing the first round?
If the pistol was cleaned then new parts were installed before your next range session, you'll never know if the part was the only issue."The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

I clean it before the trip lightly just a few dry patches through the barrel and a little lube on the rails..
Then after the trip I clean it regularly in full detail.. to remove all the build up from the trip at the range.
I dont shoot often so my gun is usually just collecting dust during its down time.Glock 17 Gen 3 [X]

You would be surprised how much dust bunnys can effect the cycle of a gun. I'm a bit OCD with my guns. I clean after every range session, I also clean and relube every first of the month if I have not shot it. Every January 1st I will disassemble completely down to the frame and clean all the stuff I don't get to through the year. Ladies and gentlemen, your gun can never be to clean. lolComment

Glocks are also prone to malfunctions caused by limp wristing. I can deliberately make any of my Glocks malfunction by holding it improperly.Originally posted by G. OK .. it's worth rechecking seldom used guns. I tend to forget people have guns that don't get used weeklyI clean it before the trip lightly just a few dry patches through the barrel and a little lube on the rails..

I don't own enough of them that one doesn't get frequent use.
Glad your OCD has been properly diagnosed! You would be surprised how much dust bunnys can effect the cycle of a gun. I'm a bit OCD with my guns. If that's all it takes you're GTG!

I have been fortunate enough to see few pistol reliability issues. Keep in mind that every pistol will have issues if you run it hard enough. If your guns never malfunction then you're not training hard enough. My G26 has been pretty good to me despite me dropping it in the dirt with the slide locked back and various other things.
While I was at the bundy ranch my G26 rode my hip for 4 days. After 4 days of sitting/rolling around in the dirt the dirt buildup was so severe the slide was SUPER crunchy and id doubt the gun would have run right. The trigger pull felt like 50 grit sand paper.Last edited by kentactic; 05-12-2014, 3:14 PM.Comment

After being so honest here, you'll never sell it... despite me dropping it in the dirt with the slide locked back and various other things.
