    Glock reliable?

I thought Glock never jams until I brought my G26 for pistol class.

It was cold and raining dogs n cats on the class last month. Good way to test myself and the pistol. First I got FTF on Tula steel cases. At the end of the class, the guide rod moved down to a point that it locked the slide. I couldn't clear it at the firing line and instructor took the G26 and cleared it for me.

The G26 gen3 is pretty new. Just 200 rounds at the range before the pistol class. May be it is still breaking in. I suggest everyone using the pistol for HD/SD should bring his/her pistol to a class. Rapid fire, double tab, drop the mag to the ground with wet mud etc.., I can never test this at the local range.

I had a few issues with mine occasionally being just out of battery. I replaced the OEM guide rod with a stainless steel aftermarket guide rod and the problem went away.

FTF as in the round jammed the gun? Or that the gun failed to pick up the next round? If the later, probably cuz cheap ammo is underpowered and failed to move the slide back far enough to pick up the next round.

Cannot comment about your guide rod experience.

You may want to try some different ammo to see if that helps. I've never used steel case out of my G19 or G26. I've always stuck with federal, Winchester or remington and have not had issues besides the usual wear parts and that's with over 8k rounds mostly on the G19.

Maybe you should be using non crap ammo.

Just wanna test it with crap ammo for 50 rds only. Back to brass after that and no issue with FTF.

While I wouldn't be surprised if it was his ammo, I just had the same problem as well.

I shot my G17 yesterday for the first time, and I had three FTF(eed)s consecutively with Fiocchi FMJ ammo.

Tula ammo or wolf seem to have many issues in pistols.

Soooo you knew it wasn't a "Glock Reliability" issue, knew what the problem and solution was.

                      Everything mechanical will fail.

Good formal training will help one learn how to reflexively clear malfunctions.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Steel case ammo will probably cause a marginally higher level of malfunctions depending on the gun. Unless it is a Makarov or AK, good ol' brass is better.

From my experience, "Glocks never fail" until they fail, unless it's a hardcore Glock enthusiast, then it is "operator failure".

Well yes and no. Ak is very reliable because it shoots all kind of crap. I fed Tula steel case in a Sig before and it ran fine.

Other than ammo, it is also my first to have a guide rod issue on a Glock. Need to find a range allows rapid fire to test the G26 again.
