I just had my 2-1/2 Model 66 at the range today. K-frames are great guns.

You are right indeed! Need to put my glasses on to pick up the lack of medallions.

The targets have never fit my hand. Finger groove combats make the 19 a natural pointer and comfortable even with full power loads.

Smith & Wesson hit a home run when they made the 19.

The 19's had diamond targets until 1968.

So those are probably the originals.

The end label on the box does indeed say that this Model 19 came with target stocks, target hammer and trigger. It is a little odd that it had all these target options, but no target sights.

black sights are target sights. dedicated target guns like the Model 14 and 25 never came with rr/wo.

They do have the palm swell. I took them off and they are Eagle grips. I think I am going to see if I can add the S&W medallions to them. They still will be aftermarket, but I think it will make them look better.

It was a bit more than I wanted to kick down, but he was a tough negotiator and I could only grind him down seventy five bucks. However it really is a 99% gun and with the original box, SAT, cleaning set and docs, I felt it was worth the $625 I paid for it.

After all it is only money, and with the way these older, pinned and recessed Smiths are increasing in price, I feel that I got a fair deal.

These were 225.00$ in 1978 , A Colt 45 Sr 70 was 234.00 so you paid the correct adjusted price.

Update

I couldn't stand the fact that the target stocks on this gun didn't have the S&W medallions on them. So, in a fit of OCD, a ratty set of grips donated their medallions so I can now sleep at night.
