You cannot beat the G.P.S. backpack. Easier to carry then a hand held range bag, has padded pistol compartments and plenty of room for ammo, ear/eye protection and anything else you need. Comes in black and tan.

Awesome bag, which is a clone of a very expensive compitition bag.

I got mine for $45 on sale I think. It is pretty big, comes with two "pistol rugs" (ie like gun envelopes), a used brass bag (it has a mesh on the bottom so dirt and stuff can fall out of it while you are picking up brass) and a seperate inner bag that you can take out of the outer bag. I guess you put ammo in that smaller one and cart it around instead of the larger outer bag so you can move from stage to stage during a match.

It is big, and it does have magazine holding loops in it.

Wow, I see they added some new colors too. It's $50 at the moment, which is a good deal. When I bought it they had black and "olive drab" and I picked the olive drab because you can't see much in a black bag, especially things like black magazines or whatnot. They have camo, brown and blue now nice! I wish mine were blue!
Nice bag. Shipping is ~$18, but find a 1 cent filler and use NRASHOW2 for $10 off $50.

OTOH... I see a lot of women using wheeled-bags in the professional office environment... and I think it's smart and it looks good. I don't like to see a woman carrying a heavy bag...
and if I saw a pretty girl like you carrying that Midway bag loaded down w/ 2-3 handguns + ammo, etc., I would feel compelled to offer to help you carry it....
So, if you don't want guys offering to help you carry your bag, go for a wheeled-option. Perhaps Midway and other range bag manufacturers are missing a whole segment of the market?

This. I'm not kidding either. It's altogether best to avoid the "are there any weapons in the vehicle?" query.

I've been thinking of re-purposing a disc golf bag with the shoulder harness to become a new range bag.

I bought one of the 5.11 range ready bags and it is just way too big for for me for range trips. Great for BLM when I need to carry more though. http://www.511tactical.com/range-ready-bag.html

For pistol days I generally just use an old non-descript Eddie Bauer backpack (that is indeed lockable, pistols in rugs or their Tupperware if applicable).

Also have a $22 LA Police Gear bag that works fine for days when just carrying a couple pistols to range. http://www.lapolicegear.com/tabaoutbag.html

I have the Midway range bag, and it worked great, but got heavy when you added some guns and ammo. I bought one of those GPS backpacks and love it, much more balanced to carry because it's evenly distributed instead of one side of your body carrying the bag.

Either works great, just get the bigger ones. Just like a safe, you'll find you run out of room with the smaller ones.

general location would help. you may not have to mail order.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Dvor.com has the GPS backpack on sale a lot.

I have the Midway bag, but find it's a bit hard to carry when I have 4 pistols plus ammo and accessories. Also not easily lockable.

The nondescript lockable backpack is what I'm moving towards.

Thanks for the responses guys! I think I might go for the Midway bag and see how it works out, it's a pretty cheap investment so if I don't like it I'll probably move towards a backpack.

I'm not willing to roll around a bag, too embarrassing! They remind me of the wheeling carts my grandma uses to go to antique sales in

I wouldn't mind any offer to carry my range bag!
