I think this guy just got a lemon; all manufacturers turn them out.

Granted my go-to is my G19, I still have full confidence in my P89 and GP100s.

Used to own an SR40c and a MKIII, both of which were great.

So far, my G19 has had one malfunction which is the same amount of malfunctions I've had in all of my centerfire Rugers combined.

OP: does this happen with different mags?
it happens more often with the shorter mg

According to ruger that is gun for the firearm so I tend to stay away from doing so.

You may want to see if is just the mag first, if you haven't already determined it is mag-independent.

        Hope this helps.
I am going to buy two more mags to see if it makes a difference and work my other mags to get them to be less stiff.

Using the slide release is not bad for the firearm.

On most Ruger pistols it is a slide stop. The manual says to insert loaded mag and then pull slide rearward then let go the slide stop will release with a loaded mag.

Sorry to hear your having problems with your SR9c OP. I have the SR9 with almost 10k rounds with almost zero problems. I also had (regret selling) a SR9c which had no problems when I sold it (bought EMP). Buy some snap caps and load a mag and then pull back the slide then still holding it bring it forward slowly and see if you can feel any binding. My thought is maybe the extractor is to tight and holding the case from coming all the way up.

I have a friend with and SR9 that hates Winchester White box ammo, he stick to Blazer almost exclusively to avoid issue, in his case he seems to get light strikes on the Winchester, but not anything else.

My SR9c has been flawless for ~500 rounds using 5 different mags. Ball ammo. Ain't tried HD ammo yet.
