I love my SR9c, but it tends to get annoying that at least half of each magazine jams each time I go to the range. What is the fun in that? I spend more time clearing jams, than shooting. I hope Ruger is able to fix it because I really do not want to get rid of it.

Yeah, because guns made by Glock, Sig, S&W, and Beretta have absolutely no issues whatsoever with any of their guns, and Ruger guns do all the time, right?

Try sending it back to Ruger so they can take a look at it. My sr9c shoots any ammo I feed it flawlessly. This is even considering the cheapo steel cased Russian junk that I feed it, such as Tula, Wolf, WPA, and Herter's, in addition to any and all brass cased ones from all the common makers such as Federal, Winchester, and Remington.

Is your hand off the slide when it is moving forward? Going all the way back is only half the story. If it is only doing it when you are racking the slide I would guess it could be human error. Don't baby it. Rugers are nothing if not tough.

Whenever I rack it I let it go hard to see if that would work better, but it doesn't.

I had the exact same problem, turned out to be a magazine issue. 1 of the 2 that came with the gun wasn't seating 100% absent a hulk-esque slap. I switched it to a training mag and bought another. I noticed the follower rocked a little bit more in that mag than in the others.

You may want to see if is just the mag first, if you haven't already determined it is mag-independent.

                  Hope this helps.

Have someone shoot it and see if they have the same issue also. A person I took to the range experienced the same issue, it did not feed properly. It was a very reliable gun to begin with. I figured out that it was limp-wristing was the issue. I corrected his grip and the weapon feed the next round properly.

Have you locked the slide to the rear and released it using the lever?

Why are you racking the 3rd round? If it is because it isn't chambering a round, manually lock the slide back without a magazine, then use the slide release to chamber the round. If that works, it is user error, and it's probably occurring on the first three rounds since that's when the magazine tension is the highest.

Other than that, with Ruger centerfire handguns, you get what you pay for.

Exactly this. Why anyone would struggle with a handgun that won't chamber a round in addition to having half a magazine's worth of malfunctions is alien to me. Sell it and get something else that won't give you any problems.

Sent mine in for a similar problem. Comes to battery, but trigger would not reset. Among other things, they replaced the barrel. Its been fine for 2K rounds. Why they replaced the barrel, I have no clue. But it works. Its my carry gun.

                              Ruger makes good centerfire handguns.

I think this guy just got a lemon; all manufacturers turn them out.

Granted my go-to is my G19, I still have full confidence in my P89 and GP100s.

Used to own an SR40c and a MKIII, both of which were great.

So far, my G19 has had one malfunction which is the same amount of malfunctions I've had in all of my centerfire Rugers combined.

OP: does this happen with different mags?

We've got two magazines for my wife's sr9c, and sometimes they seat very easily, and sometimes I need to force them in. It doesn't matter whether the slide is locked back nor not. I sent them an inquiry about that.

Other than that problem, her gun runs flawlessly. 100+ rounds just yesterday. She's excited and enjoying the challenge.

OP, are your magazines easy to seat and lock in, or are they a PITA?
