Bought an XDS 9mm Bitone

Thanks to Peruta making carry (nearly) accessible, tiny pistols are suddenly attractive and useful. I ordered the XDs 9mm 3.3" bi-tone at Mount Pleasant. It should arrive this week and I'll start the 10 day clock on Thursday.

Next steps: Submit the carry license application for Santa Clara County, and find some quality training.

Does anyone think it'd be worth getting a 3.3 to go with a 4.0? The 3.3 is two ounces lighter and comes with another two 7-round mags.

It's a matter of choice. I have an XD40SC that I carry everyday, just picked up the XDs45 3.3 for a smaller/lighter option.

Great choice calif. The XDS is a smooth shooter. Much better than the LC9 it replaced. Better trigger, better recoil handling, great sights, and it just looks darn cool.

I wish they made it just a tad wider and squeezed 10 rounds into the mag (semi-staggered?). That would be a G19 killer for California IMO (as long as we have SSE).

The weight is deceptive when comparing them empty. Once loaded, the G19 might end up weighing a bit more since it holds 15+1 rounds versus 9+1 in the XDS.

What really surprised me was how smooth it shoots, probably because of all that weight in the 4.0 slide.

I'm comparing the G19 as 10 round capacity vs the 4" XDs. I love the looks of the 4" XDs but I just can't justify it over the G19.

Glock is working on a slimmer 9mm I'm sure of it. I hope it's has a semi-staggered mag that holds 10.

Shot the heck out of my XDs 3.3 .45 last weekend. So glad that I picked one up. Very accurate, surprisingly minimal recoil for a 45. Going to be a great option for me. Hate to say, the guys shooting their Glock's and Sig's were all over mine - I had to cut them off after a while.

5+1 or 7+1 (extended mag) should be more than enough in most situations. Plus you should already be carrying an extra mag, so worse case for the XDs 45 that's an extra 5 or 7. Most defensive encounters will be 2 to 3 shots and it will be over - that's why you should be training with your EDC all the time.

I have 18days until I can start my dros on one, I'm getting the bi-tone 3.3 too

... I wanted a shield at first but I held a Xds & liked it more , plus it comes with nice fiber sights, so it worth the extra $100
