funny, but my wifes rings have never scratched my kimber.
but that's because she shoots both of her kimbers instead!
she prefers all her kimbers in stainless and her rings in gold.
seriously as others have said ITS A FRICKEN GUN, its supposed to get used and maybe scratched. shoot it and enjoy shooting with your wife. if somebody says hey your guns scratched, tell em, yeah its because my wife shoots it with me. they will be jealous trust me.
and besides I like kimbers but its not like its a 100 year old colt or some other collectors item. ITS A FRICKEN GUN

14kt gold is harder than 18kt or 24kt.
If your wife scratched your Kimber it was likely a 14kt ring where Vin63's wife is probably 24kt.

I think it's gold ring and somehow under recoil it made swirly scratches removing the blueing.

I'm not complaining so don't take it that way. I chalk it up as a learning experience and from now will know to make sure the rings are off.

Grip tape = Sand paper......vs wedding ring......no thanks. lol. That ring cost more than the gun.

Hopefully the pistol will look like a /man owns it and it will be scratched to heck and the finish worn off in all the proper areas.

The same thing happened today to my Beretta. This was in about 200 rounds shooting with my tungsten carbine ring on.
I'd rather it didn't happen, but no big deal in the grand scheme of things.
You can see the scratch about halfway down the grip. It's not even a scratch, it just kind of removed all the finish in that area.

I took my wife shooting today, she had a blast!, however afterwards I was cleaning my guns and my Kimber has some new marks on the front strap, I store it on a gun sock to protect it from scratches so it confused me until I realized my wife wore a big ring on her right hand.

Well, the ring left some nearly scratches on the front strap near the trigger guard. This kimber was perfect, no marks what so ever. I bought it new and even though I use it, I still baby it.

I'm glad my wife enjoyed it but note to self...make sure wifey removes rings from right hand before shooting! No you're not going see a pic of my wife lol!

Doh! I stopped wearing any ring (wedding ring included) once I started shooting regularly. It is annoying and may result in damage to something that is definitively more important than jewelry.
