kimber front strap vs wife's ring....

I took my wife shooting today, she had a blast!, however afterwards I was cleaning my guns and my Kimber has some new marks on the front strap, I store it on a gun sock to protect it from scratches so it confused me until I realized my wife wore a big ring on her right hand.

Well, the ring left some nearly scratches on the front strap near the trigger guard. This kimber was perfect, no marks what so ever. I bought it new and even though I use it, I still baby it.

I'm glad my wife enjoyed it but note to self...make sure wifey removes rings from right hand before shooting! No you're not going see a pic of my wife lol!

It was the other way around in my wife's case. The front strap checkering on my Springfield Trophy Match left checker marks and gouges in one of her ring bands.

I had similar concerns and told my wife I didn't want to wear any rings. Guess how that conversation went?

I'm not worried about it. Today was only the 2nd time I took my wife shooting.

I'll keep this kimber and someday I'll point out that those marks are hers. I bet my kids would value this in the future....mom's ring marks on dad's gun!

Hope it's just surface scratches in finish and if so what crappy finish is Kimber using or what is that ring made of to damage steel?

Yeah, I hate getting scratches on my guns. I'm surprised you even let people shoot them. They'll stay pristine only if you photograph them and wipe them with a microfiber rag.

Yup hate it when I forget to tell folks handling or shooting my guns to remove their rings.

You choose which is more important to you. Of course, you could put some grip tape over the affected area.

My 1911 slide rails got scratched... BY THE SLIDE! I'll never rack it or take it apart again. The trigger even has a few scratches on it from rubbing on the frame. Guess I better just leave it in the safe and never shoot it again.

Sooo, not to re-start the age-old SA / Kimber thing again, (okay, maybe) buuut...

Springfield > Ring, & Ring > Kimber Begin.

Seriously though, your very first sentence (that I enlarged) is the only one that's REALLY important here.

Scratches add character, and chicks dig scars.
