Took my glock 21 shooting today for the first time. First mag worked great. 2nd, 3rd, fourth. Not so much. The slide stop kept engaging after every round. No mods have been done to it. I thought glocks were supposed to work everytime?

It just needs to stretch it's legs on a few hundred rounds. I've had no issues with mine bought 18mons ago. -g

id reach out to glock. that is strange. seems like the spring on the slide stop has way too much tension/ is over powered. it will probably fix itself over time, but it should run properly right out the box since its brand new.

If you haven't done any disassembly, verify your support hand is not accidentally putting pressure on the slide stop up, causing the slide to lock back.

If you've or any one has done an armorer level disassembly on the frame, it sounds like they inserted the slide stop in the incorrect order.

Locking block pin first, then insert the slide stop so the spring is against the locking block pin, and then insert the pin though the trigger/slide stop.

doesn't the spring press the stop down, not up?

I would also imagine your grip is pressing it up - or the spring is too loose and the recoil itself is pushing the stop up.

Either the slide stop spring is not installed properly allowing it to bounce up after firing, or your thumb or support palm is pushing up on the slide stop.

I think I just fixed it. I took the top pin out and put it back in. Seems to function now.... still not very happy with this gun.

I am very interested in your thread as I am also in the market looking for that exact same model. That or a Ruger SR45.

The slide stop spring is above the small pin, that's what causes it. Brand new, or not, push out the pins, put the small pin back in first, then the slide stop with wire spring under the small pin, then push in the large pin.

Ive seemed to have issues with every polymer handgun ive encountered. My friend I was shooting with says his dads g19 jams if he doesnt use high velocity ammo. These things should be good to go out of the box but they rarely are.
