Looking at picking up a Springfield XDS and want to hear your opinions. 9mm or 45? 3.3 or 4.0?

Which XDS and why?
Tags: None -
I have 3.3 xds 9mm, little heavy compare to my shield, but still good ccw gun.
I am thinking about picking up 45 xds as well. -
I just looked at the XD-S in 9mm. The fact that the .45 is only 5+1 has me thinking I'll get the 9mm which is 7+1, or 9+1 with the extension.NRA Life Member

3.3 in 45. 7+1 with an extended mag. I'm getting one tomorrow but will see how it prints with the extended mag. I carry on the small of my back, so printing may not be an issue. I almost always carry an extra mag regardless.Originally posted by Colonel David Crockett"Ya'll can go to hell, I'm goin' to Texas!"

9 because more rounds, faster and in a tighter group is better and penetration over diameter of hole is more important when you are talking expanded 9mm and .45.just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

Thanks for the replies, would love to hear more. I'm leaning towards the 9mm due to the extra 2 rounds, cheaper to practice with and also the fact that I already have a couple of 9's. Sure thinking hard about the 45 though, however it would be my first 45. I know I want a 1911 after shooting my friends, just not sure about 45 in the XDS model. What about the recoil of the 45 vs 9mm? I know there's a difference, but how drastic is the difference? Also, are there any complaints about the trigger on the XDS? One more thing, is it worth considering the Shield over the XDS? Thanks for your input.Comment

Shield weight less than XDs and I think little slimer as well. My XDs magazine release is very tough (have to press it down real hard to release the mag).
Shield has manual thumb safety while XDs has grip safety. As for recoil wise, hard to tell difference between XDs and shield. I do carry my shield more than XDs thou.Comment

You might able to take out the manual thumb safety, but if you are going to put that weapon on your ccw (I do not think you can make any modification). My department does not let us make any kind of modification on the weapon except for night sights.Comment

Honestly, thumb safety on my shield does not bother me at all. The grip safety on my xds bothers me lot more lol.Comment

I shot both the XDS and Shield recently and definitely prefered the shield simply because it was more comfortable to shoot. It fit my hand better, was slimmer, and had a more comfy grip. Don't get me wrong, the XDS was great too, but if I was spending money, I'd go for the Shield.
