Hand Cannon - Help Me Decide

S&w 500 all the way. In my limited experience with a desert eagle, I was not impressed. Plus, if you want a cannon, I believe the 500 brings more cannon.

The deagle in 44 mag is pretty comfortable to shoot. It's a stable platform too, not that the smith isn't. Revolvers have no recoil absorbing action, and the 500 is a but over the top for most shooters. 500 Ammo is also crazy expensive while 44 mag can be bought at Walmart.

Shoot them both, than decide. I might be prejudiced towards DE 's because I own 4 of them

50 AE ammo is very hard to find, so if you don't reload it's not just the cost.

On the other hand, you can easily convert your DE (mark XIX only) to 44M (new barrel and magazine) and 357M (new barrel, magazine and bolt). Since ammo in these calibers is not only cheap, but plentiful, it's almost a must.

If you want to shoot Desert Eagle in 50 or 44, 500 S&W 4" or 10.5", or 460 S&W 8 3/8" or 14", let me know.

Deagles are crap. wish I never owned em. I couldn't find any use at all.

Money no object that's where I would go. But I'm a p***y and .454 Casull is about all the fun I really want. The FA are some awesome revolvers as well.

I'm gonna go against the grain. If you have the patience to track one down I would look for the California legal Thunder Five version in .45-70 Govt. It's ugly as sin, but it's a lot of gun.

doesn't matter which one you buy....you'll be selling both in a few months at a loss, once you realize how useless they are

I like being able to shoot multiple calibers through the same gun.
My vote goes to S&W 460, you can shoot it with .460, .454Casull and 45LC. Because 45 LC is a mild shooting round and because the factory ammo price isn't that high you can use it for everyday practice. One more advantage: although just a little smaller than S&W .500 round, the S&W .460 flies a lot faster and farther so from a power point of view it makes up for the smaller diameter.

Another one is Ruger Alaskan or Freedom Arms .454Casull, you can shoot .454 when you feel macho or 45LC when your hand starts hurting and your eardrums poppin'.

One more thing: regardless of what you will choose, you better start thinking about casting your own bullets and reloading your own ammo. Otherwise (unless you have lots of money to burn) you will take your new hand cannon to the range 2-3 times, then it will become a gun safe queen, then in a year or two you will sell it at a loss.
