We are looking for more control for the purpose of HD/SD.
If what you say is accurate about keeping mods to a minimum to be legally defendable, then those who have purchased M&P Shields through the SSE process could have a bad legal situation if they used their Shield in self defense.

I really think legally defensible only comes in to play on questionable shoots.

How does a good shoot become a bad one by using a trigger that helps you hit your target accurately? Only issue I see is if there are collateral damages or hits to unintended living targets. I find bad triggers less and less defensible when you hear NYPD with their NY heavy triggers hitting civilians.
"When you get the (men) to the range, you just get the men. But when you bring the (women) to the range, you get the (whole family). And that's what's going to save our 2nd Amendment."--Dianna Liedorff

"Since self-preservation is the 1st law of nature, we assert the...right to self-defense. The Constitution...clearly affirms the right of every American...to bear arms. And as Americans, we will not give up a single right guaranteed under the Constitution." --Malcolm X

The SSE mods have nothing to do with this. Its just a means to allow them to be DROS'd. Once the the DROS is complete, it returns to the original factory configuration. Also the issue is not about roster vs. off roster.

I've been told by a buddy who completed a CCW course that their instructor advised that their weapons remain in original factory configuration with the exception of sights and lasers in order to be defendable legally such that it can be certifiable that the weapon functioned as intended and manufactured. Any mods could come into question and may work against the user legally. Perhaps someone who has a CCW can chime in on this.

I don't really want this to become an argument but. If you're saying that a trigger mod is less defendable than, importing a gun into this state that's not legal to buy in this state the way it comes from the factory, having it converted to a single shot gun to pass the dros process, and then converting it back to the original factory configuration after the 10 day waiting period. I'd say, I'll do the trigger job before doing an SSE.
