I've had three sp2022's two in 9mm and one in 40sw all of them had no issues, I sold one of the 9mm to a friend b/c he was begging me for it, the most accurate sig I've owned, I shoot the 2022 better then my p226.

I started fooling around with the 40sw and ended up breaking the hammer return spring, I called sig, before I could explain what was wrong they sent me a shipping label, I got my gun back in five days, they replaced the hammer, hammer return spring, sear, all at no cost.

Sig has one of the best C.S I have ever seen. If you have a problem give them a call.

I had 2 in .40 cal once upon a time. Aside from having one of the longest trigger pulls of any handgun I shot, there wasn't anything notable I can recall. I do remember I'd often put the first round low when I'd shoot one. Then I'd have to remind my brain how long the break was and would be OK after that. They were nice guns, but I could never get used to the trigger, so I sold them.

Next time you're at the range, just have one of the workers dump a mag. If it's as bad as you say and they clear a quick 10 rounds, then you know it's your grip not the gun.

I take full responsibility for my ****ty technique on the range...

But for home defense/SHTF, I also want a (semi-auto) gun that, when I pull the trigger 3x, it goes boom 3x. I never had any issues with my dad's .45's and .380 ACP.

Well... I'll break it in a bit more and practice and see how it goes. If not, I'll give Sig a call and see what they say.

My wife's Sig Pro had a few small issues when it was brand new but now it's flawless except for the occasional failure to lock open. No big deal for me there. The magazines for it run loose so make sure it's fully seated.

Shoot some more and let us know how it goes. It's a great gun for the price and, like I said, wicked accurate.

I'll 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) this sentiment and encourage you to get an experienced shooter to run the gun a few mags for you.

The 2022 9mm was my first gun (picked it up about 8-9 years ago). Never had a single issue with it over the years. Then a couple of years ago, took my girlfriend to the range for the first time. 3-4 FTE/FTL in every mag she shot. We alternated shooting and no problems for me (still never had a single problem with any brand of ammo in that gun). Limpwristing also causes the slide to not go back far enough to lock after the last round I think.

So firm up that grip, make sure you're not riding on the slide lever, and give it another go.

Did you put the recoil spring back in correctly? Many of them have a front & back. The "back" end is smaller than the front. On some the back end actually friction fits on the guide rod. Been awhile since I've cleaned my wife's 2022 & it's not really something I give a lot of thought.

                I don't think that's an issue with the 2022.

That most likely is the case. The 2202 i 9mm uses the 239 9mm recoil spring- both ends of the spring are wound different. The small end goes on the guide rod. Don't bother looking at the paint on the spring either- when Sig paints the springs they line them up and spray- they are not oriented in any special way.

Take a look at the spring and you will see that the 2 ends are different sizes.

Not that I've noticed but I don't shoot mine a whole lot. My wife & I have matching pre-Kalifornicated models w/internal extractor. Both have been 100% reliable with a variety of ammos, mostly my handloads. She shoots hers a lot & no problems so far.

Then I'd probably go with limpwristing or possibly extractor. OP go down to the gym & see if you can pry some 'roided up musclehead away from the mirrors and the iron pile & drag him down to the range.

Only issue I have yet to have with mine (fianees actually) was when my sister didn't let the slide "fly" forward she slowly slid it down and there was a FTF. This is our first pistol and it is a dream to shoot. The .40 is more snappy than others I ahve shot but great firearm. I would and probably will buy another (my own)

my 2022 has been 100% reliable since new.

For the slide, most likely is the way you hold the pistol. I had that issue before (slide won't lock open at the last shot) and figure out my thumb was resting on the slide release.

The recoil spring and rod in the 2022 isn't all that robust. Since it's recoil operated, the 40 probably cycles better than the 9 and with that wimpy spring and plastic guide rod, the 9mm would definitely benefit from a much firmer grip to allow it a better foundation in which to cycle with.

In the OP's case, I think a firmer grip and to allow the gun to work in a little will help. It really is a great gun although I'm not a fan of the polys. My 220 is my range buddy.

Haha, "limp wristing" that's hilarious. Only on CL will i hear and learn this term. "Turd cutter" still takes the title. Ok, back to OP's thread; i would say it's the ammo so try different brands. If u still have issues then, its likely the gun. Mine has been perfect. Ran about 300 rounds of cheap reloads and was flawless.

Suggest maybe have someone a bit more experienced watch you shoot the weapon, and have them shoot it as well. Between the visual and 2nd shooter, you'll know pretty quick if it is the gun or the shooter. Maybe try a couple different types of ammo as well.

I have never had a problem with my 2022 in 9mm, or any of my Sigs. Must be why I keep buying more...

                                Keep us posted.

I've had mine for almost a year and have over 1000 rounds through it. They can be mighty stiff when new and sensitive to light loads. Try some 124 or 147 gr if you can find some.

My mags needed cleaning as much as the gun did. They were pretty gooped up inside.

On occasion, mine fails to lock back but it's due to resting my thumb on the slide lock. It's more likely to happen after shooting my 1911.

Otherwise mine has been pretty dang flawless.
