Counterintuitively the glock compacts, with the double recoil spring, seem to be easier to shoot than the full size.
Im more accurate shot to shot with my g30 vs my g21.

Me too, I am better with my G29SF than my G20SF (albeit with a 22lb spring). I am better than both with a Gen 4 G20.

Hi Bill, thanks for sharing this. I find it particularly interesting since I pick up my G29 on the 7th. Albeit, not an SF model. I'm tickled that a couple of the Glock owners find the " Big Caliber " compacts classified as subs are actually more accurate than the full size.

Do you feel it's all in the double recoil spring or is there some other underlying factors, at play?

ps. I appreciate the specialized interest from OP and Glock Nation. Cineski, if it's still an option. Perhaps just get another G20? pre-owned or whatever. As you know, my G29 is days away but it's also a " woods " gun for me. At the moment, I feel it's easier to carry vs. a G20 in the stated use. However, if it's an " open carry " scenario in Alaska, etc. etc. haha. The G20 all the way. Personally, I look at the Glocks as tools, end of....

OP, don't Frankenstein it, just get a G29, and call it a day.

This ^^^. Also, the 10mm cartridge is longer than the .40S&W. Trying to use a G23 magazine, the 10mm cartridge might not fit in the magazine, or it could cause feed problems even if it did fit. On the other hand, the G20 magazine probably wouldn't fit into the G23.

I don't know for certain. I do know the multi-spring RSA design Glock has gone with seems superior to me (I know they got a bad rap early on with some of the Gen 4 G19's, but I have never had anything but good experience with them).

In the 10mm guns, the newer RSA seems to deliver lower felt recoil and yet it keeps the slide off the frame on my hottest loads. The problem I have with my Gen 3 G20SF (i.e. single spring RSA) is when I run my really hot loads, the slide will batter the frame pretty badly with the stock weight spring. Going to a 22lb spring will keep the slide off the frame, but at the expense of higher felt recoil. This seems to affect my shot to shot performance. There are other reasons why I think a Gen 4 G20 is better, but the multi-spring RSA is a big one. I think Springco makes a multi-spring setup for the Gen3 G20's, but I have never tried it.

On the other factors why I shoot my G29SF better than my G20SF with its 22lb spring, might be grip and actual recoil. While I don't like the feel of the G29SF in my hand as well as the full frame G20SF, I do shoot it better. This is not a unique experience. I have many times shot a gun that didn't feel as comfortable in my hand better than one that seemed to fit like a glove. Probably no figuring that one out, probably why it is so important to shoot a gun before you buy it.

Good luck with you G29, I think you will really like it.

                  I own both G20 and g29. G29 closer to compact than sub-compact.
have read an article that multi spring increases accuracy

Go put your hands on one maybe try to find one at a range to rent and try before you buy. I have a first gen G23 and a G30SF ( basically same size as a G29 just 45acp ) and while it is almost the same size in length and height as the G23 it is super wide in comparison so smaller handed shooters I've let shoot it did not like it heck even with it being a SF version it is almost to wide for me and I got snickers bar fingers lmao.

                        thanks!

I havnt checked this in forever but im stoked to read everyones input and appreciate it all. I think after all the ideas im going to go with a gen 3 g29 with the mag extension not pinky extension (as to mimick handle size of my "compact" desire) and an extended barrel. thanks again all! This is why I lovethe calguns community

I'm late to the thread but, I shoot supers in my G36 w/ a 23lb spring and it only needs a longer barrel to match? the 10mm w/ a longer barrel.

It's a helluva ride left handed just like it is now.

I'm going for an EFK or Bar-Sto 4.75 incher for those Underwood Gold Dots.

I conceal carry with a glock 20sf and I love it.

Then I want to put it on a g23 frame and have a custom 10mm compact glock. Other than checking the tolerances on all the g23 stuff to make sure it can take the 10mm power, maybe having to barely bore out the barrel hole on the g23 slide to accept a 10mm barrel (10mm is .01mm bigger than .40 cal i beleive), and knowing thatmy g20 barrel is going to be protruding a little from my final productwhat should I take into consideration? Thanks a bunch
