    glock 10mm idea input saught

Hi, so I may be just picky but for glocks I am all about the compact size. I am also very interested in getting a 10mm and think it would be amazing to have a compact 10mm glock, whick glock does not make.basically I want to take a glock 20 or the subcompact 10mm and put all the parts from it onto a g23 stripped slide, I do understand ill need a new spring/guide rod and a stiffer than stock g23 spring I think will do the job. Then I want to put it on a g23 frame and have a custom 10mm compact glock. Other than checking the tolerances on all the g23 stuff to make sure it can take the 10mm power, maybe having to barely bore out the barrel hole on the g23 slide to accept a 10mm barrel (10mm is .01mm bigger than .40 cal i beleive), and knowing thatmy g20 barrel is going to be protruding a little from my final productwhat should I take into consideration? Thanks a bunch

glock 29 with mag extension would be easier. I would recommend renting both models at the range before you start throwing money around. They might surprise you will recoil.

Don't care what Glock list it as, I call my 29sf a compact size.
Search some pics, the 29/30 & 19/23 are very very similar in size.

GL with project, reliable magazine feeding is the other consideration.
Double check on the G20 barrel, it will not even fit the G29, the lugs are different, so I am doubtful it will go into the G23.

G20 and G29 parts will not fit in a G23.

Thanks guys, yea I have a 19 and a 23 and a 32 lol, like I said I love what glock calls "compact", and am kind of wondering why they would make a subcompact 10mm and not a compact as well. Anyway, yea the barrel fit is probably what will stop me S0M, I was counting on most things .40 and 10mm to be the same with the glock but thanks for that I would have totally looked past that until all was in front of me and not functioning lol. I might get a 20 or a 29 ill see how they feel, good idea to rent, iv almost forgotten thats an option. Bajadan, I like that mag extension idea but like you said its a big kid caliber I think "compact" is the smallest ill go with glock. I shot a g26 once (though it only had a pinky extension not mag cover/extension on there), it just seemed soo small, weird in my hand, same with the full size like when inshot a g22, just feels too big, but maybe for 10mm I need that. My brain goes a million miles an hour sorry guys. Any more thoughts appreciated.

Go with a 29, it's dimensionally very similar to the 19 and is set up from the factory to manage 10mm

Extended mag and extended barrel in a 29 basically describes what you are looking for. Oceanbob used to post his all the time when people would ask about this.

                  WTB used AK MFER.

I couldn't be happier with the 29SF. It's roughly the same size as the 19 but a bit thicker.

Lets back up a bit. What 10mm mags were you planning to use with your compact 10mm plan? The G20 mags won't fit a G23 frame and G23 mags won't hold 10mm.

I saw a Glock 29 at my LGS and now I am seriously considering picking one up. I have 2 9mm pistols but am looking to try different calibers. With the 29 I could get a .40 barrel and have even heard you can use .40 in the 29 without any modifications. Is there anyone with any input on the recoil of the 29 compared to say a 1911 in .45 or a Glock 22 in .40? Sorry for thread hijacking.

Op: How goes it? forgive this late entry and you've probably got the gun you want. But, I just drossed the G29 today and I can't wait. I have been considering this purchase very carefully for about 6 months and I think it shares attributes with the compact models while at the same time classified, a sub compact.

Ammo cost?.. Well it's something that has to be managed but what don't we manage nowadays as Calgunners? Besides, I know a place where I can decent pricing on 10mm.

I'm curious about this as well as I sold my G20 but would like another woods option. I was looking at the G29SF and really liked how it felt. The question is: is 10mm worth it with such a short barrel or would a 357SIG or .40 in a compact have better performance than a short barrel 10mm? Would be neat to get a compact .40 and have a 357SIG barrel for it as well vs being stuck with the rather abysmal choices in 10mm ammo.
