    CA TAX?

I just bought a gun from Damascus Gun Shop in virginia..they ship free..It is going to my fll in Lincoln. Do I have to pay taxes on the purchase price of the pistol to FLL or just the services that FLL will provide in CA?

Your CA FFL will collect CA sales taxes on your purchase. If it is a new gun, the FFL will collect sales tax.

Your California FFL may or may NOT charge you use tax/sales tax. It is better to have asked beforehand. The number of California FFLs not charging tax is dwindling down. I just hope they are submitting these taxes and not pocketing it

Mine charged me tax on the amount listed on the receipt. I've heard some do some don't, but more that do

My understanding is the FFL is required to collect the tax. I was told by one gun shop that tax is collected on all charges by the shipper, including shipping, as well as the transfer fee charged by the FFL and any SSE charges (if applicable). But the one time I purchased a gun from out-of-state, no tax was collected (went through a different gun shop than the one who told me they collect tax on everything).

The FFL I use here in Sacramento collects tax on the sticker price of the gun without the shipping. Nice thing about Damascus, however, is that they ship for free.

                    Depends on your FFL.

The total amount payed for the firearm and transfer fee are taxed. Add the DROS fee to that amount then you get your grand total.

My local FFL just asks me how much I paid for the firearm(s), and taxes that.

My FFL told me he collects tax on used guns, in-state purchase. That just doesn't seem right.
