Sig p238 or Kahr p380. Kind of pricey, but good quality.Comment

The way I see it.
You mentioned carrying a 9mm already. Why not give the lc9 a try? Keep both your main and backup guns the same caliber. That way if the main fails you could rob the mag for more ammo if need be. The lc9 is almost identical in size to the lc380. I just got the lc9 myself and its a great shooting little piece. Even with the bigger 9mm cartridge the recoil is quite controllable. I'm thinking about getting another one for my wife."Suck on my machine gun" (Ted Nugent)

I have one. Smaller than the LCP.
I heard of the earlier models having jamming problems when they first came out so look for a new one.
Only put 100 rounds through mine and no problems so far.Comment

Nice car, love it!
Substantial size reduction over a full sized frame 9mm, for ease of carry.
That was then...
Now, the vintage 380s are just cool looking compared to the avalanche of look-alike Tupperware Wonder 9s...
It's like automobiles..For example, stop and pause at any busy intersection and observe the cars going by...They ALL Look Alike..!
MBZ , Audi/ VW and BMW try to be distinct, but the Japanese ALL try and do to copy the Euro body lines almost shamelessly. Enter the Koreans who copy the Japanese and you have an intersection of Gray, white, black cars with designs which share about 90$ of the same rooflines
Two, three decades ago you could differentiate separate Makes from just about any angle.. Not anymore.
I miss that.
So design-wise I will take a pre-1971 Road Runner or a '68 Mustang or '67 Camaro or '71 HEMI 'Cuda over any of the plastic Imitation MBZ / BMWs Econo-bpxes; just as I will keep my PPK/s and BHP .
Because that's how I roll....
And speaking of.... Here's my '68 Dart Big Block ( 383 / .060 over)

There are a lot of solid choices. The Bersa is good (DA/SA with safety). The LCP was very popular for a while (Glock style). The P238 is an excellent pocket gun (SA only with manual safety). The P380 has some mixed reviews. The Sig P232 is very pretty, especially in stainless, but is bulkier than the Bersa.
But - supposedly Glock will very soon announce a single stack .380, perhaps as the Glock 42. Who knows what availability will be, and it will never hit the Calif roster unless it microstamps, but it may be the next hot pocket gun.Comment

Yes, Kahr does have good reviews. Kahr p380 is maybe, maybe slightly lighter than the sig p238 and slightly smaller. Both pistols have 6 rd mag capacity. I know sig have a 7rd mag, but I don't know if Kahr offers a 7rd mag.Comment

Well, a little bird told me that Gaston the mad Austrian might have a little something in .380 pocket-rocket at SHOT'14 next month.
Might be worth the wait/look.

Kahr does make an optional 7 round extended mag for the P380.Comment

All this love for the sig P238 even after the factory has negatively changed their California warranty policy several times?
Yes, I own a P238 purchased before all this went down. No more sig anything for me.Comment
