Picked up an lc380 about 2 weeks ago and range ran it twice. No issues with feeding reloads, accuracy is ok, not as good as my ppk/s, but more than acceptable. As with most mid size 380s it can be fired very rapidly. Some of the reasons I bought it are that my wife can shoot it somewhat and I dont like micro size guns, they are slower to put into action under stress. Soon i plan on getting a houlster for the lc380 and will be able to use it for an lc9 next year.

        +1 ppk/s and +1 on the bersa

I have shot a ppks and and they fun and accurate heavy for its size but maybe thas why it was so nice to shoot

I havent shot but have handled the bersa and it is pretty close to a ppks, but seems to have a lighter trigger and overall weight.

I now have absolutely zero respect for you.

Go sit in the corner and think about what you said.

If you get a .380 my suggestions would be (because they are what we (GF and I) own:

Sig P238 - My GF's carry gun, extremely reliable (other than a slight tendency to occasionally chuck a piece of brass straight into your forehead) extremely accurate and low recoil. Last Wednesday at the range I took it and loaded up 5 rounds, silhouette target set out to 25 feet, and rapid fire put 5 shots in a 3" group in the head of the target. Something I can't do that quickly even with my full-size CZ-75B in 9mm. My only dislike is that it has a manual safety, and I am big on not having to deal with flipping the safety off on a defensive weapon.

Ruger LCP with the caveat that it must be a Gen2. I picked one of these up recently, I was a bit of a fan of the LCP before getting this one, but Ruger fixed everything I felt they dropped the ball on with the first generation. This gun has usable sights, not that you would really need them at the range that you would shoot this gun, but a plus for practicing at the indoor range. The trigger pull has been cut almost in half as far as length goes, it's not too heavy and very smooth. These two things went a long way in improving the guns "shootablilty". Planning to slap a Crimson Trace on it and carry it at work in my front pocket. Recoil on it isn't horrible, especially with the hogue grip made specifically for it. I will have to modify the grip to accept the crimson trace as it goes all the way up to the bottom of the trigger guard, which is where the crimson trace's button sits.

Lastly, the venerable Walther PPK. I'm going to be emphatic, because I have owned both, get an Interarms model, not that disgusting pile of crap that S&W is producing. S&W butchered the frame on those guns. Sure, for the idiots that don't know how to properly hold that gun they don't get bit by the slide, but the frame redesign forces your hand a bit lower on the frame which makes a significant difference in felt recoil. Plus the build quality on the pre-S&W PPK is much better. Overall just a better gun. Plain and simple. The double action trigger plain sucks, no getting around that, it's too heavy and I don't want to mess with trying to lighten it and potentially reducing reliability. I carry it (when I carry it) hammer down safety off, so if I have the time I hope I can cock it first, but worst case scenario I will deal with the heavy first trigger pull. In single action the gun is an absolute dream to shoot. I can't accurately fire it as quickly as the P238, maybe about a second or so longer to achieve the same results firing 5 rounds. It is easier to shoot accurately at a further distance than the other two guns I mentioned, and did I mention how sexy the gun is? Biggest downside to this gun is the weight, as I can carry my 9mm Walther PPS and not feel like it is weighing me down as much as the PPK does.

Just saw this. You wont regret it, this gun is also popular in BUG GUN competition matches.

Saw the OP already bought a Sig, figured I would through out the Diamondback DB380SS as an option to anyone who is still looking. It has a stainless steel slide, and looks and operates like a miniature Glock. I have been happy with the gun so far. Time will tell on the reliability. Quality seems pretty damn good for a mid $200 gun. I think it will serve well as a back up.

I got to test one out at work. It was a great shooting gun with very little recoil for such a light/small package. You might want to consider a S&W 442/642. I know it's not quite what you asked after, I'm just personally more confident in .38 special than .380 and they're very light, easy to carry.

S&W bodyguard and/or Kahr p380 both get my vote.

I own the Bersa Thunder (BT) and have friends who owned the PPK/s and had lots of issues. The Bersa is cheaper and more reliable than the PPK/s and has a better trigger. I have had ZERO issues with my BT using factory mags. I bought a PRO MAG for it and the PM occasionally has an FTF. For HD purposes, I would use only factory mags.

My 380 ppk/s needed a weaker main spring and new +5% mag springs, but now works great. Its my primary carry gun. trigger on the kahr and db is to much.
