The fact that Springfield 1911's are carried by more Local, State and Federal LE agencies than any manufacturer out there speaks volumes about the brand. The pistols simply work, and work well. Proven in the field, not on a static pistol line at the range.

Mechanically and aesthetically, the Professional Light Rail is an exceptional pistol.

That's kind of how I'm leaning...

Because it's the only negative thing anyone can think of when talking about a Springfield 1911 since they are otherwise fantastic pistols

I own/have owned 25 or so 1911's. Knee jerk says get a full rail trp if you can. I have owned a total of 3. Sti's are nice but I can't stand the thick slide serrations. Makes the gun look clunky in my opinion. After all 1911's are artistic tools of self defense and fury. I would pick my nighthawk's over my Wilson's. I won't argue that a Springfield pro is at the top of the heap but for the money I'd buy another full rail gun crafter. Guns with external extractors are not 1911's in my opinion. I can't comment as I have never owned any. I like my kimbers. I do. But don't put a warrior in the same class as the other guns mentioned. My desert warrior feels like a $1k gun. Got what I paid for and nothing more. Same for the colt. I have never been as thrilled with a gun out of the box and for the price as I was with my stainless DW valor. Dollar for dollar in my opinion the best deal in 1911's. I'd rather have a valor and 2-3k in ammo then any of the above mentioned guns. Go with the specialist.

              Because they won the internet.

The SA Pro series of pistols are some of the best 1911s you can buy. I've owned more than my share of 1911s from big names to customs built from scratch. The SA Pro doesn't lose out much comparatively. I prefer finer checkering and different rear sights but I would not hesitate to pick a SA Pro.

I have the Marine Corps OP and love it, thats what I voted for.

however I am getting a fullrail op in the next week or so, my opinion may change.

I am guessing it's really just the roll stamp but someone correct me if I am wrong.

1911's aren't supposed to have rails.

Personally, I'd go with the colt. However, if you have sufficient funds buy all of it. You can never have too many 1911's

I have now updated my avatar because of you. Not Eleanor, but a much more beautiful 69 Camaro. I still like the non rail much better though.

How about a full length dust cover vs. a rail?

On second thought...lets delete those FCS.
