OP, if you go with a Springfield Armory, Kimber or Sig, they are all excellent pistols. The only reason why I would purchase a RIA is so that I can practice my own gunsmithing and stippling techniques on it before I do it on my Kimber.

I knew I couldn't be the only person on here that has one that runs that good.

Great choice OP, have you shopped around for Magazines yet? If you are looking for 8 rounders, I highly suggest quality magazines like Wilson ETM or Tripp Research Cobra.

Also invest in Spring Rebuild kits for down the road, you'll need them eventually.

Make sure you check out this page from 10-8 on Reliability, Round Counts, and Longevity in 1911s:

I ran my Kimber TLE 2000 Rounds bone stock no problem. Started practicing my own gunsmithing from there, which all came great.

From fitting 10-8 Flat Trigger (4LB break), Wilson Combat Bullet Proof: Sear, Disconnector, Extractor, MSH 30x20LPI, magazine catch, Ed Brown Firing Pin Stop etc. Ran 2000 more rounds down the tube, no problemo.

My current project is practicing/fitting a cheap Mil-spec thumb safety. I really enjoy the Ergo and grip it allows.
