Need Help 1911

I bought my first 1911 this year. Stainless Springfield Loaded for about $950. I love the gun and haven't had an issue at all yet and accuracy is really good for me as well. If I could re-wind though I would spend a few hundred more and get the TRP. It just has more bad-*** factor in it.

OP, Sig's are good for the money also. Only drawback is less holster availability.

What does brand have to do with holster availability for a 1911??

Go with a Kimber. I've got about 11,000 rounds through TLE II and it has never malfunctioned. 100% reliable from day one.

My vote is for a Springfield Stainless loaded as well. Mine runs flawlessly. Look for a NM serial number if you can.

Call it what you want but I've put a lot of rounds through this gun. Its a little beat up but it still runs flawless. I usually put 300-400 rounds through it at a time. Then I clean it when I get home. It has never failed and I doubt it ever will at this point.

Best bang for the buck is probably a Springfield loaded in that price range. Also comes with the best lifetime warranty in the industry

Sigs and kimbers are pretty good at that price point too

If you can save a little more I highly recommend taking a look at the Springfield mc operator or a trp.

Save for a little longer and spend an extra $300-$400 on a TRP. This is by far the best choice and you will never regret it.

Sig uses a non-standard slide shape that is larger than mil-spec so they don't fit in the common holster. Sigs need a specific holster and there just aren't as many to choose from.

Sig has the "traditional" models where the slide has a traditional 1911 shape.

Get a Kimber. i own a RIA and a kimber and i want yet another kimber.

Get an OLDER Kimber. The newer Kimbers that I've seen and handled ALL SUCK ASH. the QA/QC people have slipped some real turds through. The older stuff is still really good though.

I've had nothing but great experience with Rocks. The RIA FSGI .45 is a nice reliable pistol but I don't think it's what you're looking for.

My vote is for a stainless Springfield Loaded with an NM serial number. NM denotes frame made in the USA...whereas other frames were made in Brazil. The NM is more durable is what ppl on the interwebz say. I've had nothing but awesomeness out of this pistol. And for $900 OtD it's worth every penny.

Another one for the same price point is the COLT XSE. It's a COLT...nuff said.

So there you have it. SS SPRINGFIELD ARMORY LOADED 1911 or COLT XSE. Both are about $900. Can't beat it.

I would look hard at the springfield loaded or range officer. if you are near ventura, islandview has them for around 899.00 for the loaded. I am partial to springfield based on their customer service experience and the trp I previously owned was accurate and reliable.
