Need Help 1911

Best bang for the buck is probably a Springfield loaded in that price range. Also comes with the best lifetime warranty in the industry
Sigs and kimbers are pretty good at that price point too
If you can save a little more I highly recommend taking a look at the Springfield mc operator or a trp. -
I bought a Springfield Stainless Loaded Target for almost exactly $1,100, out-the-door. I also have a Colt from the eighties and a Kimber Raptor to compare it to.
The Springfield has been totally reliable, and it shoots and handles very well. It is very accurate with the right ammo. The slide and bushing are tight, the trigger is excellent, and I would definitely put this gun at or near the top of the list if I were looking for a 1911 in that price range. I seem to see them at the local shops, so it won't be hard to find one to look at."Self defense is not a fashion show. A defensive handgun is not a little black dress, or a purse."
Remember, the overwhelming majority of anti-gun thinkers are not stupid enough to be "afraid of guns." They are afraid of stupid/immature/crazy psycho people with guns.
And as always, being friendly, courteous, and respectful is the easiest way to bend people to your will.Comment

Eleven hundred bucks will get you two RIA 1911s (.45 ACP and/or .38 Super) and you may even have money left over for ammo. Furthermore, should the need arise, RIA's warranty service is every bit as good as Springfield Armory's.NRA Life Benefactor Member

But then you're stuck with not only one but two RIAs. It's like buying 6 Honda Civics when you have the money for a Ferrari.Originally posted by JeremySAnd menstrual cramps? Ugh, my RIA tactical felt like crap compared to my current Springfield Mil-Spec. Everything was so much rougher on the RIA and it wasn't reliable.
OP, Sig's are good for the money also. Only drawback is less holster availability.
You CAN get an SR1911, just find a shop that does SSE.

One RIA 38 Super, then buy the conversions to 9mm & Tokarev. Get holsters (IWB/OWB) and stock up on ammo.
Can't go wrong.
I have a Kimber and an RIA 38 super. That frame/caliber on the RIA is so versatile for conversions. RIA is very, very reliable.Comment

Go with a Kimber. I've got about 11,000 rounds through TLE II and it has never malfunctioned. 100% reliable from day one."Suck on my machine gun" (Ted Nugent)
