Might try a drill and an easy out bit. -

Have you tried a jewel screwdrivers? They're small enough to see if you can get some traction and be able to torq it. Just be sure to spray some lube to make it easier if you tightened it too much.Be the change that you wish to see in the world.Mahatma Gandhi

Oui....you're not supposed to use the regular screw bits in situations like this! You'll only make it worse.
They make special bits to extract stripped screws. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and tell them you need a drill bit for extracting stripped screws, they'll know what you need. The bit has a special head and "bites" into the stripped surface and allow you to extract it.Comment

I've read mixed reviews about the extractors, that's why I purchased special bits that are supposed to drill through steel/metal-- that didn't work.
You're supposed to drill a little bit through it first, then used an extractor bit (or left-hand drill bit) to get it out-- no luck.
I'll go to Home Depot to see if there are any other options.
Anyone know who can fix something like this in the LA area?Comment

You need to get a very small & good quality one to work. The one's at HD, Lowes, Sears, & Harbor Freight will most likely be too large or poor quality. A Snap-on truck will have what you need. Good chance the threads are crossed and getting it out of brass will be a pain.
Don't cut the frame because this can be removed with the right tools.
I've also been told that it's not recommended buy Glock to plug that hole.Last edited by wattspd; 10-26-2013, 11:29 PM.Comment

Buy a COBALT drill bit (or carbide if you can find one- hint: www.use-enco.com).
A good hard SHARP drill bit will eat through that set screw in seconds.
Or find a buddy with a milling setup- a 1/8" carbide end mill will do the same if he has a big enough vise to grip the frame.

. That didn't work either as previously mentioned.
It adds weight for balance and control.
