    Beretta Px4 question

    Hi,

Found a Px4 storm for a decent price. Wanted to run it by the community. I like the innovative design, but I have not handled the weapon yet.

What's your opinions on this handgun?
    Thank you,

    Doc.

Mine has been 100% reliable and is fairly soft shooting. Ergonomics are good, though I'm not crazy about the trigger. I'm terribly inaccurate with that first double action pull, long and heavy.

Agree with rickterscale. Mine has been rock solid reliable, but the double action pull is a bit long. Other than that, it's accurate, and a breeze to maintain.

oaktree has it on their rental wall if you are in the LA area - i tried it last week. i like the gun but the grip does not agree with me. i am used to a heinous DA trigger pull from the times i have to reset the hammer on my SR22 and the Beretta DA did not phase me much. it feels nicer in my hand that a glock, but no where near as nice as my cz.

            Agree with all the above.

Had mine for about 8 months or so now. Absolutely love it. It's my go to gun for Open or CCW (in those places where I can do either or both) and it's also my Home defense weapon. I've put maybe 800 rds through the barel so it's just getting broken in and the more I shoot it the better it gets. Its the gun on the right in my signature picture in fact...

Excellent firearm. Trust my life to it.

You should go to a range that rents out various handguns and try as many as you can before making your decision. If you are in the Bay Area, try Reeds Indoor Range. They have a Px4 Storm 9mm for rental, along with many others. Don't just hold the gun, you have to shoot it. The dynamics of a pistol won't be evident until you squeeze off live ammo with it. The Px4 in particular, shows its true colors with its rotating barrel design when you shoot it.

Having said that, I do own a Px4 Storm 9mm myself. You should also know that owners of a specific firearm tend to also give favorable reviews because, well, we like the gun enough to have kept it. So be aware that owners of the Px4 will be little bias.

I like mine. In 9mm caliber, it is very soft shooting, very easy to stay on target. The grip is comfortable and the fit and finish of the pistol is typical Italian; nice, tight and smooth. As a bonus, the Px4 Storm is probably one of the, if not THE, easiest pistol on the market today to break down and clean. Pull 2 latches and the whole thing breaks into 5 pieces. No tools, no holding the slide back or aligning notches etc.

I can't speak to its reliability with authority, I've only shot 500 rounds of 9mm (mixed of hollow point and round nose) through it between 3 range trips, a mix of reloads and new ammo from Freedom Munitions. Every round fired and ejected with no problem.

I rented a number of different pistols at Reed's and other places. The PX-4 was what I shot most accurately with, although not by much. I narrowed it down to the PX-4 and M&P, both of which fit my large hand better than the others, with pleasing balance. I bought the M&P-9L, for the longer barrel and sight radius, although it meant jumping through hoops to get a version that I hadn't actually had the opportunity to shoot, due to the roster. (It turns out that I prefer the balance of the standard-length barrel.) I later went to Reed's, rented the PX-4, and shot alternate rounds from the two pistols. I couldn't see any difference in accuracy in my hands. I was also hard-pressed to discern any difference between the PX-4's single-action trigger pull and the M&P's so-called DA.

Smooth recoil and easy to field strip. However, I do not like the DA trigger pull.

                        fast becoming my favorite handgun

between that and my Beretta Cougar, I'm very accurate with both

I added some rubber talons grips to mine, it has a great feel to it

Based on my firsthand experience, I'd say it's a good pistol for anyone new to shooting. It's simple to field-strip, accurate and reliable. I've shot close to 1,000 rounds (a mix of hollow points, FMJ and of all sorts of brands) without any kind of problems.

And it's a Beretta, so it's a good-looking piece. It now sits on my nightstand, ready to go should the worst happen.

PX4 was my first gun. It looks awesome and has been very reliable but I don't feel its that accurate to be honest. The grips are pretty slick if you get sweaty hands too and I personally don't like the feel of that plastic trigger. What price are you getting it at?
