thinking of downsizing.....

so title says it all, was entertaining the thought of downsizing my handguns, (granted having 2 isnt the largest collection), but consolidating calibers. I was thinking of getting a Springfield 1911 or possibly a revolver. keep in mind I have yet to shoot a revolver, which i plan on doing very soon and the reason why i want a Springfield is the lifetime warranty .
so what say you calguns!!??

Consolidate to what caliber?
Not many 9MM revolvers unless you go single action. 45ACP on the other hand-

In my opinion, consolidating calibers only makes sense if you truly believe an absolute SHTF scenario is going to happen in your lifetime, and you wish to be able to share ammo with your family members or other members of your survival team.

I like having variety. Life is too short to only shoot 1 caliber. In a SHTF scenario, which I don't think will happen in my lifetime, my Gen4 G19 will be my go to sidearm, so I stock more 9mm defensive ammo than anything else. That being said, I stock a healthy amount of .45, .40 and .357 as well.

I've been considering downgrading from .45 to 9mm. Main reason being ammo cost and that I'd like to stay in practice. My current budget is somewhat restrictive given my growing family and if I was running 9mm I could shoot twice as often. Not to mention I miss just going out to shoot. When it comes down to Disneyland tickets or shooting, my wife considers shooting to be unimportant. Yeah I know.

I consolidated down to 9. Just easier to reload for 1 pistol caliber.

Consolidating from 2 to 1? I would not recommend it. However, if you must do it for whatever reason you see as legitimate (financial, etc.), then your choice of your only gun in Springfield 1911 is a good one.

As many have pointed out above, add more to the 2 that you have or maybe get rid of the what you have that you don't like and get more of what you really like and can be better at.

Some guys buy lots of guns and polish them. Others buy lots of ammo and get really good with their couple guns. I always tell guys..

"I have two hands, I can only accuratly shoot one gun at a time".

Well yeah I was considering upsizing the caliber.
I'd go 45ACP or 357/.44. it's mostly due to cost and living arrangements at the moment. Plus I have other purchases intended as well. Or I could just stay with 9mm and trade the 40s&w for a 9. Lol
Just thoughts as I don't own a safe and staying with 2a friendly family members.
