Nope, but I wipe down the exterior surfaces with a silicone gun cleaning cloth every time I handle one.

Do you clean your gun even just shooting 40 rounds?

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark" -
Personally anything over a box of 50 I clean if I'm going to store.
If I'm going to go shooting a few times a month I clean it about once a month. I do this often cause I'm lazy and shoot a lot. It's all personal preference tho.Comment

Depends on the gun. Usually shotguns is the least cleaned.Comment

When I was in the military every time I fired my M16 I had to clean it, (Except for when in the field) being caught with a dirty rifle got you in a world of ****!
Habbits are hard to break, I still clean "every gun Every time" upon leaving the range...Comment

I clean when accuracy or reliability suffer, needless to say, I do not clean very often. (I do wipe down to prevent rust)Comment

I think it is good habit to always check and clean you gun(s) after use each time. Firearms can be dangerous if you start establishing lazy habits.Comment

In a perfect world...it is best to function fire a piece after a good cleaning...say 4 or 5 rounds.
The old-time ranges had gun cleaning areas. When you were done practicing for the day you would clean the piece behind the firing line...and before you left you fired a few rounds to make sure you reassembled the piece correctly...and if all goes well make ready for the street. Ah, the good-old-days.
As for the rest of us...what is more likely to cause a malfunction in your HD choice is under lubrication rather than debris left over from a practice session. LEOs are really bad at this...they don't want to get oil on their uniform.Comment

Meh. I'd be more concerned with the self discipline involved in shooting only 40 rounds on a range trip! Don't think I could do that.
Sorry, not sorry.

Dear autocorrect, I'm really getting tired of your shirt!Comment
