OK, I had a deposit on a Springfield XD .40 in bitone at a LGS. I found DAS through this board and also found a Springfield XMD .45, 4.5", in bitone online and bought it - it's being shipped now to DAS.
So, I went into the LGS to get a refund - they wouldn't do it over the phone as they needed the credit card. So, the manager - don't recall his name - asked if I bought it somewhere else, and I said no, that I got an off-roster gun through a SSE. He laughed and said that will get the ATF to come to your house and repossess the gun. He stated, that unless the FFL restamps the parts (barrel, and? not sure), that it's still illegal.
I didn't buy into it and said I knew (thought) the SSE was going way in 2014, and he said I was looking for trouble with this purchase. He said he was at a gun meeting and they were directly told by ATF this would be the case.
Any input on this? I have no clue, and, I'm not canceling the XDM order either...Has this happened to anyone on this board for an SSE purchase?
Thank you,
Michael J.
