I always field stripping my new guns and inspect them. I then run an oil patch down the barrel. Most of my guns have always been GTG from the factory, but my M&P 9 barrel had grit, dust or small debris in it. If the rails look dry, I'll add a small amount of oil.
Everyone has there preference for oil, I use CLP for the metal to metal contact areas and MPro7 for the external surfaces and for storage.
On another note, my 2013 M&P9 came with the magazine disconnect installed. The link below is what I used to remove mine. http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/M&P2.htm

^^ Does the magazine disconnect make any permanent changes to the frame on the gun? In other words, once you remove it, are the internals 100% identical with an M&P that came from the factory without one?Comment
