    New m&p

Do I need to lube before I shoot it? If so what is some good choices for lube? New to the gun ownership world.

    Welcome

Just ensure that there is no build up of grease or overlube from the factory. I would doubt it. I have always found new guns ready to shoot. however, now is a good time to practice dis assembly for cleaning anyway so you can check it over.

I would strip it down, clean and lube. All mine were pretty dirty from the factory, just crap from the manufacturing process.

I'd recommend taking it apart and checking it out before shooting it. Generally guns come from the factory ready to go, but not always. And as a simple safety precaution you should inspect anything that can harm you if it malfunctions before use.

As for lubrication products, that's a slightly less religious debate than 9mm vs .45, but only slightly. I like CLP for the little pieces that are hard to get to without disassembly, and grease for the rails, barrel, etc. Most people over do it. You don't need a lot, just a thin layer.

Do some searching/reading for the full spectrum of opinion on this subject, but keep in mind that pretty much anything will work just fine and we're all arguing about fairly minor differences in actual results. I will say this, if you use too much oil, it does tend to spray out on recoil. Grease stays put.

            I strongly prefer Eezox.

            In before the froglube crowd.

I clean with Mpro7 and light lube with Hoppes oil - I like the precision oiler that they have at Amazon:

When I first bought my m&p 9 it would fte a lot because I didn't lube it right, I used some tera gun grease on the rails and it never jammed again.

And follow the instructions that come with your M&P...there are only 7 factory-identified lubrication points on your pistol, where S&W calls for a *single drop* of high-quality lubricant. In other words, no need to go crazy with the CLP. Just lubricate those 7 spots and you're good-to-go.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                    Come on...what harm??

Get yourself a qt of Royal Purple, it'll pretty much last you the rest of your life.

Heck, any motor oil, dino or syn, will work, but I like the Royal Purple stuff.

I'd clean it first then lube then shoot. I juse Mpro 7 to clean and Slip2000 EWL for lube.
