It does erk me that remington/marlin call them "clips".
and I'm pretty sure I saw a magazine manufacture calling them "clips" too...
Bugs me as much as firearms chambered in 45 colt are now having 45LC on them.

Thanks for being first to breach that .. didn't know if it was within topic here. Irregardless would be a double negative .. IF it were recognized as a proper word; it ain't

In the spirit of the Banana Clip ..

Gentlemens .. in Tay Ninh 1968, This was a Magazine .. For our M-14's .. we had clips

Number of rounds capacity is for the above Magazine undetermined, as no one was counting silenced/supressed blanks, and the "Mags" were widely distributed/shared .. one shooter at a time of course. Essayons!

Funny how many are not bothered by the usage of clip.

Does this also apply to your gat, assault weapon or machine gun?

People still call carbonated beverages "soda", "pop", "soda pop", "cola" and an assortment of other names in different parts of the country. That's a matter of the regional dialect, and everyone is technically right no matter what they call it.

                More current examples:
It's like calling Coke or Pepsi "tonic water".
It's like calling tires on your car "rubbers".
It's like calling a Samsung Galaxy a "cordless phone".
It's like calling your car a "carriage".

Gun owners get all heated up about those mis-statements but not misuse of the word "clip". For me personally, when someone uses the word 'clip" when referring to the magazine of a firearm, I think that they are very succinctly conveying a lack of professionalism and commitment to precision in all things great and small. I can only assume that they are either uneducated or don't take their weapons seriously. Either way, not a good indicator if the person who has a "clip" in his loaded weapon is standing near you.

I personally don't correct anyone (unless I am providing a block of instruction to them) because when I hear the word used at a shooting range or in a training class, its a great big red flag to give that person a wide berth on the line and keep an eye on them.

Now I feel stupid because I have used clip before instead of mag.

Don't feel bad. I still hear "educated" people use the word "irregardless" in general conversation with people they don't know.
