Good CCW gun

So I'm looking for good compact pistols in preferably a .40 cal or maybe 9 if its good. I don't much care for the lc9 didn't fit my hand right. I held a glock and was in heaven. I'm not sure which model. By all means please make suggestions.

I just got a M&P 40C and an extra 9mm barrel, so I shoot it as a 9 and as a 40 and am planning carry it as a 40 as soon as my CCW comes through. I first had a full size M&P 9 so i was able to convert a few of my full size mags into compact mags so the barrel was all it took to get two calibers into the same gun. It shoots great, in my opinion even better than the full size M&P. Great gun.

I have a G27 and a G30sf on my permit. I carry them in a TT GUNLEATHER holster with an extra mag. They conceal under a dark T-shirt perfectly. Never had a single malfunction, simple to clean and disassemble, great capacity for their size and they shoot great. The G27 will fit in the pocket of my work pants if I need to make a quick run to the store and don't want to put the holster on.

I've whittled down the amount of guns I have through the years as well as gone through many CCW guns. These two are my all time favorites an I'll never part with them. The only other CCW gun I have is a Ruger SP101 revolver. It shoots excellent and carries well in either an IWB holster or pocket holster. The only downsides to this gun are its weight and the capacity (5) for its weight. Other than that it's a great gun.

I used to choose carry guns due to light weight but have found my favorite guns to carry are the ones that are fun to shoot and accurate. The g30sf is the easiest gun to be accurate with that I've ever shot (I've tried a lot ). The g27 has great capacity for the size and is easy to shoot. I take it when the g30sf is a little bigger than I'd like.

These are my tried and true choices, hope it helps.

Yes it did I'm gonna try to make it to the gun shop and see how I like them! Thanks. I tried the M&p 9 a while back and wasn't too impressed like I was with the glock.

Glock 19.

Its compact, mags and parts are easy to find, it is inexpensive enough to be easily replaced after a defensive incident, and 9x19mm ammo is cheap. That matters, because your proficiency under stress depends on practice-and practice costs $$.

I use my G27 most of the time for CCW, but I am purchasing a G30 in the near future to replace the G27. I also carry a G19 once in a while as well. Both are good CCW guns.

XD-S 9mm, Sig P938, Sig P238 (if you need a reliable micro)

All three guns I have owned...I sold the P938 when I bought the XD-S-9mm...I prefer guns with out manual safeties for carry. I made an exception to that rule with the P238...because it is the best shooting and most accurate .380 pistol I have ever held. If it isn't going to be your only handgun get something small, but still comfortable to shoot. You live in CA, so that absolute most you are going to be able to pack is 10 rounds in a mag...I tend to go with guns that give me a 6-8 round capacity for carry, because one or two spare mags are a good idea to carry anyway, if not for added ammunition think of the possibility of your magazine in the pistol having an issue...might be nice to be able to swap mags if that were the case. G26 is a great gun...I just sold mine, picking up a M&P9c which is the gun my dad fell in love with and carries plain clothes and off duty.

If I had to limit myself to just one gun for carry, I would stick with the XD-S 9mm or a M&P shield 9. If I could do just two...G26 or M&P9c AND Sig P238, because I love the idea of having a micro-pistol that can be carried and concealed easily regardless of attire. Even something as small as a sub-compact double stack 9mm can still print wearing light clothing like shorts and a t-shirt.

In the end you really need to go shoot a few of these guns and see how comfortable you are with them in your hand, then move on to deciding how concealable it will be in your daily attire. And take all internet opinions, mine included, with a grain of salt. Everybody is different. The gun that is perfect for me and my needs may be completely wrong for you, carrying is a very personal thing, in that what conceals well for one person may print horribly with someone else...case in point, I still cannot find a way to easily conceal a full-size 1911 whereas I have a co-worker that carries one daily and you would never know it looking at him.

I don't have a CCW permit, but if I were to carry, it would be a G30.

My second choice is a 4 - 4.25 inch 1911, preferably with alloy frame. A Kimber Pro CDP would be a top choice for that.

I'm trying to decide between a Glock 26 and a Ruger LC9. I think both are good guns and have pros and cons... leaning towards the Glock so I can use all my 9mm mags in it, plus it comes with two mags... and those mags mean capacity on the reload.

The ruger conceals better, but has too many safeties for me. It is still in the running because I think it is the perfect size and 7+1 is pretty good for a single stack.
