I've owned several of the pistols, they never stay long. I usually have one or two of the carbines around; those are fun - a better product than the pistols.

They are heavy and clumsy but they generally work well...


after break-in (which can take a couple of hundred rounds). Leave the mags loaded for a week or two - that can help feeding. Don't slam the mags in with the slide locked back - that can bend the firing pin.

I have a carbine and a handgun. Accurate, reliability, best customer service in the gun business and fair prices. Buy with confidence and don't listen to haters and gun snobs. A Jimenez 9mm is another matter.

It is what it is: an inexpensive and crudely made pistol. In light of that, they seem to work well enough for anyone I've known who was either unable to save up for a more prestigious brand or who was willing to drop their pretenses enough to give one an honest try.

As a range gun, it works. Not pretty or very refined, but cheap is a virtue. Warranty is good.

As a HD gun, I'd stay away from it if I had a choice just because of the frequency of malfunctions people have had.

If you follow the advice on here, you should be OK malfunction-wise.

Straight from the box I shot 500rounds before cleaning it. Never once failed to fire or fte with mixed ammo including reloads, blazer, white box. Even ran a couple magazines of some +p (yes it is rated for +p).
Only problem I had was the first round of the magazine did not feed twice. Figured out it was one of the two 10rd magazines. Took some needle nose pliers and bent the feeding lip just a tad. Problem solved.
Love the price and how I chould throw it at my target when out of ammo to inflict damage .

Have not shoot many "personal defense" rounds thru it so I don't know about being my first choice for home defense. As a range/loner/learner gun it does good. The weight helps with recoil and feels good enough in my hands to not be uncomfortable. The sights out the box did not come dead on.

Going by the videos and by internet hate.. the Hi-point Pistol is the Deadpool of pistols: Ugly, more than a little strange, impossibly hard to break, sometimes malfunctions, easy to get fixed up (warranty service).

They are unattractive and unsophisticated. Some require some tuning on the feed ramps and magazine feed lips to ensure proper ammo consumption. In the end, they go 'bang' and put lead in the right direction and a decent value for a $160 pistol and a little bit of liberty.

I'll be picking up my c9 this coming Tuesday. I purchase a Phoenix Arms HP22 a while back and people claim that it was a piece of junk, so far it has turned out to be a great little pistol and that's why I thought I would try a Hi-point! I have 2 mag sitting on the shelf loaded so when I pick up the c9 on Tuesday hopefully they will be ready to go to the range.

we picked one up in 380 , an amazing gun for $154.95 pretty accurate, they wanted 50 dollars more for the 9mm. got plenty of those though. we use the 380 for new shooters after they shoot the . 22

I bought one my self, for ****s and giggles. It's ugly it's big but it works.
Had to tweak the mag lips a bit. It's a working gun I can tell you that. I had a little dura coat left and sprayed mine. It has about 1000 rounds threw it with no problems. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372442325.693663.jpg
