Glock 17 vs 34

Too much for a "range" gun. Offer them $350 and then have it looked at. I have seen glocks with 50k+ rounds through them, other than some extractor work on occasion, they all had original barrels/slides. Glock parts are very inexpensive as well. New gen 3's go for $650-$750 otd with fees iirc. Would be shocked if it needed more than $3-$400 worth of work to make it run like new again.

Agree with all the guys saying avoid the $500 rental gun, that's pretty much nearly the price of a brand new one.

I like the 34 barrel length but the huge open gap in the slide is a deal breaker. After seeing videos of crap falling in there and jamming the pistol I'll never buy one. Sorry fellas.

How does crap fall in there? Unless you drop the gun or something? Otherwise if you are somewhere where crap might get in that gap, put a piece of masking tape over it, problem solved.

Lots of guys are carrying these as duty guns without issue. There's a long thread about this on M4carbine, but suffice as to say it's how you balance the equation. Yes the opening in the slide does represent a greater risk of crap getting into your gun, but if you shoot it better than a 17 is it worth the risk? Rhetorical question because the answer is different for each individual. Not everyone balances the equation the same way.

i have both a 17 and 34. I like them both. If I could only have one, I would stick with the 34. there are many discussions on this forum on this topic giving specifics why

If you already have a 19 I would get the 34. I have a 19 and a 17 and if I had it to do over again I would have gotten the 34 instead of the 17. There is really not much difference at all between the 17 and 19.

Sight radius difference between 17 & 19 is minimal. Just jump to the 34 for the significant sight radius advantage.

If you have a glock 19, the 34 is the way to go for sure. i have all three and i don't see a reason to touch my 17 much anymore probably going to gift it to my bro after his first pistol class!
