    Is Glock the only one?

I'm not real up on the latest and greatest pistols.
That said, are there any other pistol designs comparable to a Glocks simplicity and safety features?
I recently trained with my 36 and was sold on the idea of simplicity during high stress situations. I know muscle memory is very important so training is key. I really like the idea of not messing with external safeties and DA/SA trigger pull.

There's a number of pistols out there that are just as safe as Glock.

    S&W M&P
    SIG DAK
    H&K LEM
    Springfield Armory XD

to name a few. All of them offers models without manual firing inhibitor device to fiddle with.

I've been shooting and carrying Glock for years, and honestly, I'd take any of the above over Glock.

I don't care for the 7~8 lb trigger dishonestly advertised as 5.5 lb trigger, and the grip angle that makes me feel like I'm suffering from carpal tunnel. I can still out shoot most Glock owners with their own Glock though.

I think simplicity very subjective though. All my guns are designed the same way, single action only and thumb safety so naturally I don't have to do extra thinking with them. I just picked up my Hi-Power and I got use to the controls immediately because it's so similar to my CZ and 1911.

I'm on the side that believe you just get used to stuff, whatever it is.

Personal preference, that being said I prefer S&W M&P and Glocks. I'm not too fond of double action/single action guns and the S&W and Glocks are the most affordable.

There are also Springfield XD line, Ruger SR line, and more these are the most popular brands.

I'm no expert, but I do have my opinion:

The latest best "plastic" gun might be a Springfield XD chambered in .45ACP.

The greatest pistol ever made (and a design that continues to be produced) is the 1911 A1. I wouldn't stick a Glock down the front of my pants but I'm not scared to do so with a 1911, and one that's cocked and locked with one in the chamber.

Try that with a Glock, and one errant pube might just trip the trigger safety and the trigger, blowing your right nut into bits.

I'm going to go grab some popcorn now.

                .

IMO...XD is the cross breed between Glock and 1911.
Both top selling, most talked about pistols.

                      Glock is the simplest.

                      Safety depends on u.

I'll agree to the simple statement but not so sure about pulling the trigger to field strip in regards to safety.

Honestly, firearms development is pretty stale. It's been what, 600 years since the first firearms were made/used?

Cartridges were developed in the mid/late 1800's

                            Semi-auto pistols around 1900's?

The most dramatic recent development probably was Glock with plastic frames and striker fired mass produced guns (not sure who invented the striker design, but Glock certainly put it to good use). Maybe some materials and manufacturing techniques have advanced (MIM, for one)

In other words, any modern handgun you get is going to be accurate and reliable.

It all comes down to your hands and your shooting style/needs. In other words, going to the range and seeing which gun gets the most bullseyes for you that meets your other requirements.

They are all pretty much the same if you think about it.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

Because you can't properly handle a firearm?

I'm sorry but that statement makes zero sense to me and never will make sense. Before you field strip any firearm, what the hell are you already doing? You are already handling a firearm! What's the first thing you are supposed to do when you pick up a firearm? You clear it. I don't care if you are picking it up to just to put it away or to put it in the freezer. You clear the gun, plain and simple. Therefore, you should never have a problem field stripping a Glock.

If you are handling a loaded firearm, you should be putting it into a holster, at the range, or in deep ****. None of those have to do with field stripping a Glock.

So, where's the danger in field stripping a Glock?

So I forgot to reply to the OP. Most of the popular/common ones have already been mentioned. Most modern firearms are really good and it's just personal preference. I love simplicity.
