how does a da/sa pistol work w/o a decocker?

Ummm no... Sorry I don't carry a non safety equiped revolver cocked Maybe the movies you watch have alot of people doing it but...I would be fairly comfortable with a decocker but would still observe safety guidlines as far as keeping it aimed away from people and such.

There may be "safety equipped" revolvers out there........but not many. In the good old days revolvers were single action (Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Rawhide (the best imo)) so you had to cock the revolver before you shot the bad/good guy. If he relented you had to decock, just as you may have to after cocking a modern DA revolver for some reason.

Rack the slide, put the safety in the "UP" position.

This method was told to me by a Production IPSC CZ-75 shooter: Once the hammer has been released from the sear, retract the slide slightly. When the hammer is resting on the rear of the slide, you can slowly move the slide forward into battery.

I agree with most of the posts. There are very few revolvers used in sporting events that are carried cocked in a holster.. Take a look next time you see people running that match. You won' see any revolvers coming out of a holster cocked. Secondly I bet you 10-1 that anyone trying to ease the hammer on a live round will be disqualified for a safety violation.

I think he was referring to the transfer bar or hammer block that is found on double action revolvers. If you release the trigger the hammer can not come into contact with the firing pin.
