thanks everyone. My first choice is probably the cdp but for the money the tle will most likely be the one I get.

BIG difference between a CDP and a TLE. If you're gonna carry this, the CDP is the way to go, alloy frame for lightweight and completely dehorned for carry. The TLE is a good if you're looking for a metal frames gun that has most of the additions you might seek; night sights, front strap checkering and good heft.

I guess I have put 5000 or so rounds through my TLE RLII. I have already changed springs. The original barrel is still accurate and I've been running the older Wilson combat 8 round mags.

The rail gives the frame a little extra weight which is beneficial for new shooters.

I got the TLE/II RL - excellent firearm and I just leave everything stock...

The only problem - not easy to find a holster to fit with the rail... I bought a new one from Fabous 2 months ago... Blackhawk and other brand just does not fit (OK - custom made would be different - but cost more!)...

Safariland makes a duty one for it with the various rail mounted lights but my fav is a bladetech which has one for it with the rail and no light.

I have the Raptor II, very accurate, trigger 4 lbs, can shoot 2" group from sandbag at 25".

I have the Custom CDP II and went 1000 rds through it without a single problem, shoot great and feels awesome. As far as carry goes, I use a Blackhawk CQC Serpa and I can carry it the whole day without feeling bogged down.

looks good, I guess the biggest decision is steel fram vs alum. I currently have 2 3" 1911 with aluminium frames and have shot full size with steel frames.

I would say go to your gun shop of choice, even if you are ordering online or something, go to the shop and then hold the different guns and see which one you like more.

I'm about the thriftiest shopper on here. Now a days I buy mostly online. BUT what you suggest is a lame/rude thing to do. If you know you won't be buying from that shop don't waste their time.

Why is that lame or rude, that is what they are here for. I try to suppport/ buy from the local gun store when ever possible, so according to what you say, everytime you go into a gun shop and if you want to look at any firearm inside the case, you must buy it. If PDR79 buys online and doesn't like or have a second thought about what he bought, that's a $700 mistake which could be prevented if he went to his local shop and held a few pieces.

I have the Tactical Custom ll...works great...have thousands of rounds through it. Supposed to be a good carry gun because of the lesser weight. I've had the trigger done, added laser grips and just recently replaced the guide spring. I read the articles several years ago about the LAPD SWAT and the other LE agency in Washington that tested it. I was impressed. Twice I ran about 1300-1400 rounds through it without cleaning it, just to try and get it to fail...never happened. Some people like 'em and some don't.
