The only 'Real' safety is between your ears. I have run Hi-Powers in competition, and they don't compare to Glocks. And unless you have one built by Cylinder and Slide, they are pretty much crap.

Sig sauer P226. I have found Glocks to have more recoil because they are so light. Heavier guns with longer barrels absorb more. My Glock 19 kicks more than my Sig P226 .40 cal!

True, but the Glock has a a lower bore axis.

CZ SP-01 has a very low bore axis and is all steel so the Glock will still have more muzzle flip due to the light weight. Add a DPM mechanical 3 spring recoil reduction system in there which allows you to rapid fire and immediately get back on target.

I've shot a G17, G19, Xd 9 compact, and my 92fs.
I felt the recoil and return to aim was best on the 92 and that's just one of the reasons I bought the 92 as my first handgun.

Really, how many Grand Master USPSA shooters are running them then? Uh, like no one. Why? Because if they were awesome, then they would be like the Bomb in USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and 3 Gun, but they are not.

For soft shooting, I like Cz's, b92's, and BHP's. maybe ruger's p series.

Manageable recoil in 9mm means metal frame and larger size.

So out of the popular brands you are looking at:

Sig 220
Sig 226
Cz 75
Cz sp-01
Browning High power
Beretta 92
And the various metal frame ruger and smith semi autos.

You an also look at a ruger Blackhawk revolver in 9mm

Speaking of revolvers, a stainless larger size .357 revolver like the smith 686 or the Ruger sp or gp shooting target 38spl, especially with comfortable rubber grips is about the lowest recoil you are going to get out of a gun that is not 22lr.
