    Carry while camping

    Hey CalGuns,
I have been researching CCW laws and while I know how to read law, I can't get a definitive answer on this one:
When I'm in remote wilderness areas, can I carry a gun for defense against predators (both 2 and 4 leg)? What are the specifics, and where is the source data for this?

With a valid hunting license you can carry concealed as long you are in an area in which its legal to discharge a firearm, but there are other considerations dending on what you are hunting. Same is true with a valid fishing license and you are traveling on foot to or from your fishing location. Again, you must be in a legal location. Read cal penal code starting around section 12024. Print the applicable sections and carry in your pack for protection.

If your unsure call DOJ and ask.

Campsite is considered a temporary home just like a motel room, so yes you can carry while INSIDE your campsite.... Problem is when you step out of your campsite boundary....

Alot of that info was posted in 2009. CA laws have changed. Especially with unloaded open carry.

You can't carry concealed anywhere in CA without a CCW permit, period. The only exception would be inside YOUR OWN HOME.

I don't think this is right. There are exceptions for while hunting, or while fishing or moving to a hunting or fishing site where discharge of a handgun is legal. Some areas are just limited to shotgun discharge etc.

The exemption allows for the conceal carry of an unloaded handgun with a valid hunting/fishing license.

Loaded by DFG, uhmm DFW, means chambered. Problem is if you are in a city, a county, an area code, a zip code, a gun safety zone, a school zone, a state park or just about anywhere in Kalifornia, they have a law that superceedes DFW regulations.

If that information i linked to is really not updated we need to get that current. I dont see how uoc has changed in a national forest with the new california law. When it states both uoc and loc are legal in the national forest.
