    Tactical lights

Any advice on tactical light for home defense Glock 19? Not really excited about spending $300 on a light. But want something reliable that will light my target in a stressful situation.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Surefire x300. I've seen them used for as low as $170.

X300 or a TLR-1 are both great options.

FWIW i've personally seen 4 TLR-1's fall off guns. They're good for the price but I'd rather spend more and have a bomb proof light.

TLR-1 works fine on my 19.

TLRs are cheap and effective for a pistol light

X300 with the DG switch. Works great with one hand operation so you can still use a handheld light as well.

Insight M3 lights fit Glocks perfectly and cost about the same as a streamlight TLR-1.

Check out the new Inforce APL's. I'm digging mine a lot so far.

TLR 1 for me as well. I shoot my pistol too in the range with it. Atleast its only a hundred dollars just in case it breaks but TLR are tough.

I have a X300 Ultra (500 lumens) and an InForce APL (200 lumens) right now. If you do a search, you'll see some pics I posted up. I also currently have on order a TLR-1s (300 lumen model), but have used a TLR-1s 160 lumen model on a G19.

IMO, the X300 is the hardest to operate (even with the DG-11 switch) but looks the best on the gun. The finish is also the most durable so you can wipe away any muzzle blast without having it mar the finish. On the TLR-1 lights, the finish is not as good so powder blast from the muzzle will mar and fade the finish. This happend with my G19 after 200 rounds (I also posted pics of this up in the past). The TLR lights are very easy to operate, even the strobe feature.

The Inforce APL is much shorter so it shouldn't get much residue on it like the TLR lights, but I haven't tested it to see how well it'll do with shooting hundreds of rounds through it (TLR and Surefire I trust). Still, it's pretty bright, about the same as the TLR-1s 160 lumen but with a wider spill. It's a little smaller & lighter since it only uses 1 CR123 battery. The 'paddle' buttons make for easy operation, although I wish the momentary On would take less pressure. Still, much easier to operate than the X300 lights IMO.

There are other lights out there, but that is what I've used so far on my handguns.

Nutnfancy does like the TLR3. But reviews seem to indicate that they break easily with a lot of nylon features. Lighter, but not as sturdy.

I want to train and practice with the light installed as that is the way I would use it in my home at night. Does the fact that the TLR's protrude past the muzzle of the Glock 19 render them worthless after a few thousand rounds?
