Differences between Desert Eagle and the new CA Desert Eagle?

Went to the gun shop in Milpitas and they actually had, of a all things a CA Desert Eagle in stock to sell...I immediately put a hold on it, while I am doing my research, as they have no idea when and if they will be able to get another?
Does anyone know the difference between the Desert Eagle model, let say from 3 years ago, versus the recent CA Desert Eagle model? I asked the employee of the store and he was about as much help as a 2 year old pushing a 1979 Cadillac up a hill...thanks

As far as I know its nothing, its the only one they submitted for drop testing

Interesting comment. I don't shoot my .50 DE often, but everytime I bring it to the range people come over to my lane to check it out. That particular pistol seems to generate more interest than my other, some much more expensive, pistols.

I never considered them or myself to be mall ninjas.

Although that may be true and I'm blowing steam out my butt,
But most people I have personally seen around my parts using a DE where what I spoke of, not enthusiasts or collectors. I loved the gun too till I held it, and have yet to shoot any caliber. I wouldn't say no

One is israeli made and I think that's the one on the roster, others are US made

The rostered DE has magazine disconnect and the only version that is on the roster is the black one.

I would do an SSE of a non-CA version - you can get any finish you like. There are some in stock at Impact Guns.

As for mall ninjas, people who don't own guns make the same comment about anyone who owns any kind of gun. Be careful before you attack those who are "different".

To the OP: DE is an extremely fun gun for occasional range trip. It's a novelty gun, but it's very accurate due to the fixed barrel and top of the slide. You won't regret having it in your collection. Just don't post a question about where to get an ankle holster for it .

The California models have an extra firing pin safety to pass the drop test. Also a non standard firing pin plate to fit the extra bits.

It also makes re-assembly an operation of misery dipped in poo.

Call MR and order a regular plate before you even think of going in there.

I mostly agree with IVC that it's a novelty gun, unless you're into pig hunting. The .50 DE is a hog killing mofo.

My suggestion, if you get one, is to get a set of Hogue rubber grips for it right away. They are much better imho.

Haha, the Deagle... Oh what a classic in Counter Strike. One Deagle people all day, e'er day! If I had the money, I would love to own it as a novelty.

I had a chrome polished DE 20 years ago, if I didnt use the right ammunition the gun would not cycle the new round, after all it was a real heavy gun. Even when I used the right ammo it would still jam every once in a while. That being said I would not use the gun for personal protection or even hunting because it is unreliable but if you ever wanted to get oohs and aaahs just take one to the range and watch the people line up to watch you fire it, that alone is pretty cool.

I don't have a DE, but I do have an Automag and it's the same deal. Folks at the range, especially guys of a certain age, freak out like boy band fans when it comes out. I've pretty much quit taking it as I always needed to bring like 100 extra rounds to get any downrange myself.

If you use plated ammo you can reload 50AE for .30 a round
Jacketed will set you back around .80 a round

Midway has Starline brass in stock for $40 a hundred

Otherwise $2 a round for factory ammo

The going rate for .44 mag is .80 a round

I could be wrong but I believe the extra pin is to prevent the firing pin plate from falling out on recoil as so many early ones do. My Mark I does it on occasion and I wish mine had the extra pin.
