I've looked and found some conflicting information, and spoken to now a few shops who have all given me very conflicting info. So, the question is, what exactly is needed to purchase a handgun in CA re: residency?
I recently moved (4 months ago). My CA DL has my old address on it. I have gone to the DMV and have a the little brown card with my correct address that will match the paperwork. I have a signed lease for my current residence. I do not have any other utility's or government issued paperwork with my current address on it because I am renting a room from the landlord - so all utilities are in his name.
I do have divorce paperwork filed with the court with my current address listed. I have bank, credit card, student loan, bay area toll bills, Bart (clipper) card, etc. all with my new address. I was told that I am fine for the ATF, but CA DOJ needs more, but I don't know how to get what is needed. Frankly, this is a bit ridiculous. I have gone through a much more extensive background check to be an attorney, and I've been a resident of California my entire life. Why it matters that I've moved from Contra Costa to Alameda County is really irrelevant I would imagine.
I'm hoping that the Court paperwork is enough. Oh - I've also updated my voting registration, but of course, you can't get proof of that until prior to the election and they send out the card. So yeah - any advice?
