If you run a gun store, you have a big safe(s). If logging in items into inventory is difficult, it's probably the wrong business for you. The same goes for filing paperwork correctly. I'd also like to see what kind of ink/paper costs $10 for a few pages.

What? You argue like Joe Biden.

If I want to do a PPT today, it would be in the "same manner" as I would buy a gun off the shelf today...not Thursday only. The only difference is, it costs me $10 more for DROS work.

If you do 8 PPT's in a day, and it takes you a total of 110 minutes to process them all. You made over $40 an hour on that one action alone. Since I just bought a nice gun from a buddy, and your shop took care of me so well, I think I'll buy that .460 Weatherby ammo that you've had on the shelf for 15 years. Heck, I'll even outfit my kid with a new gun, ammo, cleaning gear, and targets because I want to support the gunshop that supports me.

Oh...sorry...I forgot we were talking about your store, the one that pisses on law abiding citizens because you are too inconvenienced to do PPTs according to law. Yeah, guess I'll go to Big 5 or Turners instead. At least I understand where those idiots are coming from.

The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I don't think there are much difference time between new dros and PPT.
And also If dealer takes person with better profitable item first... are all the guys with less profitable merchandise wait for them to finish doesn't matter if they come first?
I think most of the store have policy of first come first serve~!!!

I like what the guy at my LGS said once when I did a PPT...remember, we lose money on this, but I am doing this because I like you, and want to help our customers...and also because I have to by law...mostly the last part.
It is more important to remember the sales that go along with a happy customer adding another gun to his/her collection. Ammo, targets, holster, case, cleaning supplies, bigger safe, the list goes on.

I've done PPT's at stores who did it happily and promptly, and stores who grumbled about it and acted like they were doing me a favor, guess who I'm taking my bu$ine$$ to whenever possible?

The guy at your LGS should be saying "remember, we lose money on this, but I am doing this because I like you, and want to help our customers whenever possible so they come back to buy other things, and tell all their friends about our customer service...mostly the last part".

If the service is genuine, the employee shouldn't need to say any of that last bit.

FFL's enjoy many privileges and with those privileges come some obligations. Among those obligations is to do PPTs.

The law doesn't use the word "manner". It states.

28050 specifies a dealer licensed according to Penal Code 26700.

FFLs are required to conduct PPTs. In a March 6, 2001 memo "Requirement for Firearms Dealers to Conduct Private Party Transfers / Allowable Fees" the California Department of Justice states

Firearms dealers are required to conduct private party transfers
pursuant to Penal Code section 12071(b)(5). Dealers may not limit the
days or hours in which private party transfers are conducted
              .

Why do we keep letting history repeat itself?....
