    Frame for Glock 17???????

Does anyone know any FFL in the Los Angeles area that sells Glock frames? I need a new frame for a Glock 17 Gen 3. Rockyourglock.com sells a complete frames for $199 but they are out of state and out of stock. http://www.rockyourglock.com/custom/...-LOWER17G3.htm

Lonewolf makes the Timberwolf frame but I do not know if they are in stock or not. There is also the aluminum frame...but I can't recall who makes it.

I've read a couple of times on here that you cannot DROS a frame. Is that correct?

You can PPT a frame if the same model of gun is available to do the safety demonstration. You cannot purchase a frame outside of PPT unless you are roster exempt.

Or you have a gunsmith build it into a working gun and then SSE it, I believe that a 07 ffl would be required and they would have to mark the frame as their own model.

Could you but say a G17 Frame have it shipped to someone like Table Rock then also ship them a complete G17 upper assembly slide/barrel etc. and then have him ship put the two together and then send a complet pistol to a local FFL for transfer?

Why not just loan a willing and able FFL locally to throw your own slide assembly on a completed frame?

Well, I bought 2 Frames from Glockmeister.com in Arizona over the phone.

Had them sent to my FFL; before they arrived I paid a visit to my FFL and dropped off a complete GLOCK upper. (complete slide, barrel and RPA)

When the frames arrived (this was last year and several months apart) the FFL simply installed the uppers and gave me a call to come down and do the DROS.

One was a GLOCK 20SF that I built a Longslide project (lonewolf) for. And the other was a GLOCK 19 (Franken-Glock) that I built up for my 14 year old daughter.

                Here is the thread:

I think it depends on the FFL.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

How much did that cost you total? It seems like once you are all done you may be pretty close to the price of a complete pistol.

I think about $500 bucks. Worth it at the time. In todays market $500 bucks isn't much for a Glock 19 with KKM barrel. Hopefully we will see pricing and supplies return to normal. (someday)

I think finding a local FFL willing to do this is the issue.

                          Need 07 for this IIRC.

In order for me to do that I would have to engrave the firearm with my info as I would become the manufacturer. You may find a dealer willing to do it for you without, but I would not be one of them.

There's also the excise tax to pay?
