Default I build another FRANKEN-GLOCK out of GLOCKSTORE.COM parts...for my daughter.

So I was thinking about a mid-winter project; something to put together for my 14 year old daughter. She's loves shooting my Glock 17 (a Gen2 from 1993) and I thought if I'am ever going to get that machine back I'd better get one for her.

Over time we all collect parts for various guns. And my Glock collection is no exception. I had a box of parts that begged to be put together in a custom build. A KKM match barrel that I bought at a Gun Show...we never know why we buy stuff for guns...hehehe..we just do. I had a bunch of springs, several sets of sights...etc. Plenty of magazines.

I am on a mailing list from GLOCKMEISTER in Arizona and I received a 'special' sale email concerning GLOCK FRAMES. They had these G19/23 Black Frames (complete) for sale for $175 bucks, no tax, plus $7 shipping. GAWD...I couldn't pass that deal up..!..

I called and ordered a G19 FRAME. Had it send to my favorite local GUN STORE and started thinking about what I wanted to build for my daughter.

I called my favorite GLOCK source, Vince over at GLOCKSTORE.COM down in San Diego....Talked to Lenny Magill who is really customer service oriented. Lenny knows me and suggested I put together a list of parts to build this Franken-Glock 19...heheh.

A list of what I needed was phoned in. A couple of days later my package arrived....got a LONEWOLF slide (Glockstore stocks them) and all the small parts I wanted. The good thing in my mind about GLOCKSTORE is the 10% discount on orders over $150. Thats a good deal for me considering the SLIDE alone retails for $175 so 10% off the total order was a good thing for me. I prefer keeping my $ in State and supporting local Gun Stores and parts suppliers whenever I can. Glockstore also sells complete GLOCKS.

I had $182 in the weapon so far, a few hundred more would still keep me under $500 for my daughters G_19.

I have to say I'am not a fan of the LONEWOLF CARTOON on their parts. But since LONEWOLF was out of G19 slides at the time and you have to actually pay an additional $15 to NOT HAVE THE CARTOON...I just got what I could.

Like I said, I already had a Match KKM barrel in stock and a bunch of other stuff.

My package arrived and like my GLOCK 20 Lonewolf LONGSLIDE (Pig Gun) the lonewolf G19 slide is simply BEAD-BLASTED and really, up close it looks unfinished. Oh well. I knew that going in. haha. These slides DO NOT COME with a channel-liner. This is the plastic tube that the firing pin floats forward and backward in. I had ordered one channel-liner in my package but being a KLUTZ I goofed it up installing it. To the point that the firing pin assembly (that you also have to build up from parts that love to FLY AROUND MY GARAGE) can barely move. This bothered me. Using a 5/16 inch LAG BOLT I twisted the bolt inside the destroyed channel-liner and pulled it out. I ordered another 2 channel liners. (only about 3 bucks). As fate would have it, the Gun Show was in town. I took the slide over to the GLOCK-DOC guy (what a nice guy) and he used the proper tool to install the Channel liner for 10 bucks. Well worth it to me. Showed LENNY the slide; they loved the finish.

Back to my story....
Well, since I didn't like the finish on the slide I thought I would have it plated or coated; did some reseach and finally decided to go ahead and finish it myself. Worst thing that could happen is I muck it up and sent it out for an NP3 coating anyway..having nothing to lose. That bead-blasted finish is butt-ugly and in some light, you can see dark spots.

I'am building a kit airplane in my garage and one of the items I have as a tool is a Back-Rivet-Plate. This is a perfectly flat steel plate. Using some old Semi-Chrome polish and some 1000 grit sand paper, I spent some time moving the slide back and forth to polish out the high spots. Took about 20 minutes per side.

While the slide looked great, it was too shiney for my liking. See the reflection on the sides.

Using some Scotch-Brite pads I taped off part of the slide and in a couple of minutes (go fore and aft, not sideways) I managed to give the slide a satin, none reflective finish....

Assembling the parts, slide, barrel and some of my rebuilt Prebans....the weapon came out perfect. I decided to install some 10-8 sights with a brass bead front site. Love'em.

http://www.10-8performance.com/produ...ear-Sight.html

Before giving this gift to my daughter I ran 500 rounds thru the weapon. No problems. She loves it.!
Now I have my Gen2 G17 back and she has this custom FRANKEN-GLOCK 19.

Her she is shooting fish in our pool....you can see the brass bead front site. Really easy to pick up; I like it.

Be well and have some fun..!..

I love Glocks and Projects. Nice build. I didn't know we could buy just the frames, here in CA. I always thought they had to be a complete firearm.

Now I have to go spend some more money on Glocks, thanks Bob.

Back on topic, congratulations to your daughter for the new gun, and having the coolest dad on the planet. Strong work Bob. Take care.

Thanks....this also goes to your question about what to do with that shine on your stainless handgun....

I used masking tape to protect the serrations and ran it along the top to leave the bead blasted look at the top of the slide.

Take care

That's wild! Looks great though. So glad you didn't stipple the frame.

Shooting fish in the pool? I hate it when the fish get in the pool like that. I usually pick 'em off with my Browning Buckmark though. The .22LR doesn't overpenetrate the pool walls so much resulting in an expensive repair.

Where do I sign up for the $175 Glock frames?

same thing over here - OP, are you in CA and if so, could you let us in on where you had the frame sent?

Glockstore.com was selling G19 frames at some point and after I paid online, I was informed by both glockstore.com and my FFL (Riflegear) that it was not legal in CA for me to buy the G19 frame

oh btw, awesome blaster for your daughter

Have you tried silver nail polish to cover up the Lonewolf cartoon. I am sure your daughter can find a matching color for it
Just a friendly suggestion.
